Leopard killed after mauling six in India

Officers shot and killed a leopard after it strayed into a village and attacked six people in West Bengal, India, according to media reports.

The leopard attacked a woman and two men, The Australian reported.

People in the densely populated slum village of Prakash Nagar climbed onto rooftops as forestry officers pursued the big cat and vice versa, Sky News reported. Several attempts to tranquilize it failed.

Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers, Sky News reported. An officer finally wounded the animal, and it later died at a veterinary clinic.

One forestry officer was reported critically injured.

The leopard was just looking for his mid-day snack. And then pow, they pop a cap on him.

@Nidhi. You really seem to be anti nature and prugudiced against beautiful animals. I bet if it was a cow you would have bowed down before it. Wild animals have to eat. When an country is so overpopulated like India, food for wildlife becomes scarce. The poor cat was just trying to get something to eat ! I believe you Nidhi are in fact the racist.

God, yeah, human beings are UGLY. I actually do prefer looking at cows; I'm glad you decided to clear up that taboo. The next time you leave your house try wearing a paper bag over your head. The world should be populated with zoos, where we can put these poor animals on display.

India say's 'thank you' to ENRON. Remember them? ENRON? You'll never guess what they did with those funds of ours that they stole, and got busted stealing. Did the funds go to help cover the 100 plus billion dollars scammed? No! It went to build an ENRON powerplant in India that purchases it's natural gas to power the plant from...get this...Bush's Carlyle Group. California had a long-standing 50 billion dollar lawsuit vs. ENRON. (you may recall that bushman gov. Arnold Swharzz. dropped that lawsuit when he became gov) Your beef isn't with Indians nor the corporations that send your jobs to them. Your beef is with greedy men that were hired to make sure this stuff never happened, not to make sure that it does and then profit from it...you just don't realize it yet. That's what I'm here for. You won't hear this anywhere else ya know.

After looking at the photos of a leopard on the rampage I was more appalled at the responses in comments. None of us have the privilege of choosing where we are born. Political and economic issues aside, I have traveled in India and have found the Indian people to be quite different culturally, but very gracious and gentle. Besides, they are human beings who while different have the same rights to pursuit of happiness as we do. All the haters need to swallow their bile and find the compassion buried in their hearts. This is about a mad, possibly rabid, leopard that attacked people, hygiene or jobs outsourcing. Sheesh!

LMAO... typically whenever I hear "but" used that way in a sentence, it's safe to assume everything that came before it wasn't true.

I don't think your comment could illustrate my point any better.
You should look up the definition of prejudice sometime...

Leopards rarely attack humans and there were several there. I suspect this one had cubs nearby and felt that her cubs were threatened. Either that or she was on crack.
