Leopard killed after mauling six in India

Officers shot and killed a leopard after it strayed into a village and attacked six people in West Bengal, India, according to media reports.

The leopard attacked a woman and two men, The Australian reported.

People in the densely populated slum village of Prakash Nagar climbed onto rooftops as forestry officers pursued the big cat and vice versa, Sky News reported. Several attempts to tranquilize it failed.

Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers, Sky News reported. An officer finally wounded the animal, and it later died at a veterinary clinic.

One forestry officer was reported critically injured.

get the Indians out of the leopard's habitat...and you will not have to worry about them. Lighting a fire where the leopard is taking refuge? Hmmm, don't pull on Superman's cape...don't spit into the wind.

You use Ant/ Wasp/ Hornet killer to protect your family when these insects build a nest in your yard, but cry out loud when a bigger animal in another country is killed.. that's double standard!

    Sad.
Why would humans only have the license to kill?
My sincere condolences to the family of the poor leopard.

John Lennon is it so difficult for you to comprehend that OVERPOPULATION in third world nations is encroaching on the remaining wildlife habitats? If you live in a grass hut on their turf, yes they will attack you. We have no right to be there. Stop having 9 children per family.

I am a huge animal rights person, but in this case, what did you expect these people to do? They in fact did try and tranquilize the cat several times and it did not back off – and you can see it eating that guys neck. How are these people bad?

If you would have continued to read past that, you would see that it states, "Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers."
