Leopard killed after mauling six in India

Officers shot and killed a leopard after it strayed into a village and attacked six people in West Bengal, India, according to media reports.

The leopard attacked a woman and two men, The Australian reported.

People in the densely populated slum village of Prakash Nagar climbed onto rooftops as forestry officers pursued the big cat and vice versa, Sky News reported. Several attempts to tranquilize it failed.

Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers, Sky News reported. An officer finally wounded the animal, and it later died at a veterinary clinic.

One forestry officer was reported critically injured.

I don't know what you are talking about. This is nature at its finest. Survival of the fittest in it's truest form. If the leopard wants to survive, stay away from humans or learn how to use a gun.

Really now. So, let's wipe out all life on the planet. Then, have an open air steel cage match where anything goes and where only the strongest lives. And after your posting, people would probably be coming after you first.

Does Indians stink, yes some do especially from the northern India they havent heared about deodrants or just dont like it.Indians took lots of our jobs, BPO's, medical , accounting, sofware deveolopment etc.Did Obama tried to cut outsourcing around six months ago, thanks to republicans and five democrats defeated that bill.talk to your senators and represntatives and check they can do some thing.Or just stay here and hate Indians, phillipines, canadians and Irish who are taking away all our jobs and if you want hate some Chinese who took all our manufacturing jobs.

LOL Canadians taking your jobs? More like Americans taking Canadians jobs since its cheaper labour in the US and with NAFTA companies don't pay tariffs most Canadian companies are manufacturing their products in the US, Mexico or Overseas.

The leopard was probably in town because either its home had been destroyed, it's food had been chased off or domesticated, it had nowhere else to go.

It's too bad that you're not intelligent enough to understand the article.
They tried to tranquilize it first. When that failed and it was gnawing on a man's neck, THEN they killed it.
Or are you suggesting that they shouldn't kill an animal that is chewing someones heart out simply because it is "acting on instinct"?

The leopard was shot and wounded when it tried to leap on top of a van where a ranger was waiting with a gun. Read the article. Only Dick Cheney would shoot a leopard actively attached to someone's neck. He would do it from the back seat of his S.U.V.

Bullocks! That guy had a clear shot. A simple point blank shot to the orbital of the creature would have made it drop like a sack of potatoes. One shot one kill..
