Leopard killed after mauling six in India

Officers shot and killed a leopard after it strayed into a village and attacked six people in West Bengal, India, according to media reports.

The leopard attacked a woman and two men, The Australian reported.

People in the densely populated slum village of Prakash Nagar climbed onto rooftops as forestry officers pursued the big cat and vice versa, Sky News reported. Several attempts to tranquilize it failed.

Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers, Sky News reported. An officer finally wounded the animal, and it later died at a veterinary clinic.

One forestry officer was reported critically injured.

In the 2nd photo, the dudes standing on the edge look like they're thinking "If you need help just me know. You appear to doing fine on your own." Unbelievable restraint not to kill the animal initially. In N.A. we tend to shoot the bears or moose wandering into our neighborhoods immediately.

  2. Department of Labor

Anybody can look up the 2010 Department Of Labor report on child and adult forced labor. Hmmm was not lying about it. China and India still engage in the practice and some American companies still support it willingly or through ignorance. All you people worried about hurting someone's feelings are misguided. Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are on this report and encouraged it's development. You can call someone all the partisan names you want, but these are facts.

I like animals as much as the next guy but the minute an bear, gator, shark, lion, cougar, leopard thinks they can take out a human, I'm all for hunting the whole bunch and putting the fear of God back in them. Let the ones that survive the hunt speak "leopard-talk" to those that remain – "Don't phuck around with those humans".

And believe me; we have done enough of that already to get the, "don't phuck with humans" message across. I am now screaming into my desk drawer to muffle it because of your idiocy.

Stop encroaching on wildlife habitat. Stop over-breeding and such encounters will cease to occur. Leopards are rare and beautiful creatures that need protection and not elimination. Damn it!

Let's home that they will not go out and trap a leopard to be burned alive as retaliation. The small villages in India have done that several times in the last couple of months. They included a black panther, burned alive; a very small infant elephant beaten to death by the village men; and another leopard; burned to death while alive. I saw the video of the elephant; it screamed as they beat it and then set it's back on fire and stoned it while it burned until it died. Evil at it's best. I should say; ignorance at it's best. . I will hope that they attempt to show restraint in this case. We encroach on their land; this is what we get.

I so agree with you. Will the people of the world ever wake up to the fact that we can't keep producing so many children? There's not enough space for everyone now! Over-population causes most of our global problems. We might even have world peace if there was enough room for everyone. So far the animals and the forests have been paying the price of our selfishness.

Indians have been living there for thousands of year and that is the impact they have on environment with "limited land". Think about what the immigrants in 450 years of history in USA. What Indian population has done to India is nothing compared to what USA has done in 450 years of history to their own environment and that of the world. So stop preaching about environment to the people who used to respect it before industrialization and still respects it more than the so called modern culture who started over polluting the environment. Give the same amount of land to US population and the impact of population on environment will be multiple compared to India.

See, I'm 23, and I got all the references it was making, so yes, I enjoyed that movie. I'm also a big fan of the books too.

What do you suggest as "mature" movies? I'm sorry that me being entertained by something means you have to condescending because you didn't.

India “respects its environment” more than the US the same way someone bound to a wheelchair puts less wear on his shoes.

Don't you mean YOUR selfishness? Those people are just trying to survive. You on the other hand use a technology and culture that has proven to be devastating to the environment and other cultures around the world. They're just trying to survive on YOUR leavings. You on the other hand are selfish enough to spend your time whining about them using a device that is the result of decades of environmental abuse. Interesting.
