Singer Amy Winehouse found dead, UK press says
Singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her apartment in London on Saturday, the UK Press Association reported. She was 27.
The "Rehab" singer had a history of battling drugs and alcohol and recently left a British rehabilitation program that a representative said was intended to prepare her for scheduled European concerts.
But she cut short the European concert tour in Belgrade, Serbia, last month after she staggered around the stage and stumbled through several songs.
The troubled British singer was known for a stirring, soulful voice that many considered a throwback to the Motown sound.
She had a breakout year in 2008 when she won several Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her hit “Rehab.” Her album “Back to Black” garnered Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year.
But there was trouble.
Winehouse's volatile marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil took a toll on the singer's career. The couple divorced in 2009 after a stormy two years marked by drug addiction and arrests.
Winehouse’s parents went public with their efforts to help their daughter, telling the London Telegraph in 2009 that she was on the road to recovery.
"A gradual recovery, which is good,” Winehouse’s father, Mitch, told the Telegraph. “With slight backward steps - not drug backward steps, more drink backward steps if you follow my drift. I think that will be the pattern of recovery."

Waste of talent.
Not to steal away from this sad news, but I hope La Lohan is watching and listening. This the same road that she's headed to!
I agree 110% Oh well...if nothing else Lohan can aspire to join the great/tragic 27 Club. Therein she'll join the ranks of Morrison, Colbain, Jimi, and Joplin.
At least Amy Winehouse had some actual talent compared to Lohan who has no talent at all.
Another drug addled pop star joins the "27 club", with illustrious members such as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, and Robert Johnson, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin, to name a few.
What a waste of talent. God forgive her.

I saw this coming, it was only a matter of time. She could never break the addictions she suffered from. Just to far gone
This is really sad! She was so talented a great singer! She messed her life up by using drugs!

It's that magic age of 27 for rock/pop stars. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, etc.
So incredibly sad, and not funny at all. It's a shame that so many people can be so incredibly insensitive. What a loss for all of us.
how is a loss to me... i never purchased her albums....its you people that bought her ablums so she can buy the drugs when you knew she was in trouble...so ya call me insensitive... but you guys fueled her.
Another junkie bites the dust. Just because she happened to be a good singer doesn't mean she deserves any special compassion. She dug her own grave, I have no pity.
pity, no. how about a little compassion, perhaps. i'd bet she had family who didn't judge her based on drug abuse and looked at her as a human being.

i agree with aezel.... but yes i feel for the parents losing their little girl... but not for her at all... i actually blame her friends ...because the chances are they are addicts too and help the supply of drugs... every addict has another friend that coax the friend into doing it..so i blame her friends too..night want to look into who gave her the drugs instead of blaming the addiction
Wish there was an instant remedy for addiction .... it's so sad and so hard for some people to get a grip on!
