F-bomb in valedictorian's speech heard 'round the world

Global news outlets and blogs in Asia have focused this week on a young woman who graduated top of her class at a prestigious college in Singapore. Except they aren't raving about the student's accomplishments. They're abuzz with a bad word she dropped in her graduation speech, according to Singapore's Straits Times.

"We f–king did it!" Trinetta Chong exclaimed to congratulate her peers at Nanyang Technical University's 2011 graduating ceremony. The 23-year-old's remark came after what a local reports called a "rousing" six-minute speech. A video of the speech was uploaded to YouTube on Friday and viewed, as of 12:30 p.m. ET Monday, more than 4,000 times.

Chong has apologized for the remark as has the school, according to Yahoo Singapore. "(The line) really reflected how I felt at that time, and I think it resounded with other students from our graduating class too," she said.

There may be little reason to worry about her or the graduates of NTU. The Straits Times recently published a story focusing on another graduate of the school who is making $20,000 a month.

It is not surprising that the one supporting this lewd behavior can't even spell "hear" correctly!

This is a trip! A student wants to pray in the name of Jesus and it's all over the media BUT another uses the f-word and it's no big deal??? Someday we will all have to give account to God! What f-word will you use then?

I bet god and jesus both drop the f-bomb a heck of a lot. Every time the see the tea-baggers using their names to destroy people's lives, for example. Or, when some jesus freak murders an abortion clinic doctor. Or, when a christian extremist guns down 72 people in Norway in jesus' name. Or, when some idiot posts something lame on a web site about how people who use the f-word will have to face god. Give me a f-ing break!

It's so sad today that more and more young people are finding the use of that Tea Party lingo not only acceptable but are using it in everyday speech including that f-word. The English language is extensive enough today so one doesn't have to use that dirty lingo to make a point. No wonder the Muslims disapprove of our way of life as our moral standards decline as time goes on!

The problem today is simply that young people are not being brought up to have any self respect. How can these people respect others if they do not respect themselves? This is contributing to the Tea Party Movement bigtime along with the ignorance and the right-wing fanaticism. The West is truly decadent indeed!
