Gotta Watch: Windshield worries

Driving can be dangerous, but it's not just distracted drivers or speeding-ticket dodgers that makes it so tricky. Sometimes road hazards can turn into near-death experiences. A piece of wood can become a dangerous projectile or a sneaky snake could ruin your summer travel plans. You've gotta watch how these windshield worries more than interrupted a few road trips.

Snake's surprise – Snakes must love modern transportation. They've slithered onto planes and stressed out Samuel L. Jackson and now, it appears they've taken a liking to automobiles. In this video a scaly serpent slides up a car's windshield as it cruises down the interstate. How would you have handled this scary situation?

Flying debris – A two-by-four unexpectedly flies through the windshield of a moving car. Luckily, no one was hurt. Get an inside view of the frightening event.

Now that's horse power – Imagine driving down a road when a horse literally runs over your car. The result is a compelling, if not shocking, video where the animal crushes the windshield and roof.

I support evolution, I don't stop or swerve for animals entering the roadway in any situation where it could cause an accident either from swerving or from causing an unexpected traffic stoppage.

Well in that case, maybe (fingers crossed) "evolution" will be just as kind to you.

The only dangerous thing in the snake video was the distracted driver. The snake was a harmless Black Ratsnake and it's highly unlikely that it just crawled away. Ignorance is bliss...

I can't tell when a snake is poisonous and when it isn't. Sorry with me they're guilty until proven innocent. I'm not risking my life or my kids' to make PETA happy.

And it's not a driving hazard and a danger to their kids with them watching the snake and not the road? Here's your sign!

It's really quite simple. If it's black, fat and has a fat, spade shaped head it's a Cottonmouth. If it's copper colored with darker band patterns on it's body it's a Copperhead. If it has a rattle on its tail it's a rattlesnake. If it's red black and yellow (assuming conformation to the rhyme) it's a Coral snake. Boom! You can now identify every single type of poisonous snake in the United States. Congratulations!

If I saw a snake on my windshield I would immediate pull over to get it off. The snake was so stressed out. How can anyone just film a tragedy ready to happen and not pull over but just let it die when it falls off!

People see anything today, they think to pull a camera vs using their brains and fixing the problem.

    • Really?!

Oh I'd pull over alright.. and get a stick and pull off the snake.. and then kill it...

I'd have flipped on the windshield wipers to. Snakes and I have an understanding, they don't come into my space and I don't come into their space. This particular snake violated that agreement. Take that sucker out of the snake gene pool.

The idiots with the snake should have just pulled over and let it slither off. It was on the car for awhile. If they can't handle that, the parents are bad drivers. The kids are more at risk with them at the wheel. The lazy stupid father said he didn't think of it because he didn't want to deal with it. Imagine what kind of parent he is.

Lila, he's the kind of father who expects his wife to deal with the icky parts of life. I know loads of men like that. They are a dime a dozen. He's also a major wimp.

(Here comes my rant of the day)Really? Bad drivers? Think about all those dang ads you see everyday to and from work??Probably lets rule out the whole distraction thing, total BS! Also, Do you think when this country was founded people gave 2 flips about a snakes life??Maybe we should think about that while we realize what kinda whimps we are in this country. We let the Government get away with foolishly spending our money and it gets more corrupt everyday...why??(and this is not the only reason)because we see a video like this and think thoughts like "OMG those poor kids saw a murder!" or "why didnt they pull over they are bad ppl and bad drivers!" Your too soft!! Maybe this is why we get ran over by our friendly politicians everyday! and its non of your dang business or anyone elses business how hes driving..Not only does he pay for the car, he pays car insurance, bills, and most importantly he gets f'd at the Pump! Let him judge how hes driving!

Two examples of very poor human judgement. Snake situation – driver should have pulled over and let the snake fall off the car. Horse situation – WHY woul d that driver keep going when there are three HORSES in the road in front of you?? Really poor judgement.

The ignorance of some people amazes me. It's 2011 and you people still think they're some kind of evil beast out to get you. Do a little bit of research and you'll see how ridiculous your fears and beliefs towards snakes really are.

Nothing cracks me up more than reading the writings of scared little children who see a snake and must kill it before they pee their pants in fear. You people make me sick and I'm embarassed to have you in my species.

The driver & husband with the snake on the hood/windshield are a bunch of morons!!! Sitting there laughing and this poor animal is freaking out – obviously out of it's element and looking to get back! "It never crossed your mind to pull over?" What? Seriously? You're that stupid? So what, just going to travel all the way to your destination with a 5-foot snake on your hood? This is also a drving hazard and a danger to other motorists! You're watching the snake and not the road! PULL OVER – you don't have to grab the snake, just pull over and sit there, it'll climb off in a couple minutes! Idiots! They should put the driver on the hood of a car going down the interstate and shove her off!

PETA=People Eating Tasty Animals. Please DO NOT put the lives of animals ahead of human life. Yes, it's important to respect animals and treat them fairly but too many people are over the top.

      1. Try something original. Don't be a lemming
      2. Humans ARE animals.

How can two adults, with small children in the car, care more about getting a video of a harmless snake on the windshield than they do about the safety of their kids and others? They are speeding (passing other drivers) while focused on the snake. Other drivers would be distracted, too. How could it "never occur" to those idiots that they should pull over? People like that disgust me. They should not have children. I feel the same way about the people filming horses on the road. Why not stop and try to get them off?
