Hugo Chávez stars in workout video

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has released a workout video to demonstrate that he is healthy enough for re-election.

Having recently returned from Cuba, where he received chemotherapy for an unspecified type of cancer, Chávez has told state-run media in Venezuela that he has no intention of dropping out of the running in next year's election. Chávez has been president since 1999.

In the video, Chávez adopts the dress and demeanor of a typical phys. ed. teacher. He leads members of his Cabinet in stretches, some calf raises and a brisk walk while denouncing cholesterol as a poison.

According to an article that was released Friday on Chávez's website, the video was originally aired by Venezolana de Television, Venezuela's state-run television channel.

Speaking of his chemotherapy in July to VTV, Chávez said, "It was hard, but my soldier's body was able to withstand the small discomforts of this difficult treatment."

In that case, you should move to Venezuela right now! It is a paradise for those who like to live in hell.

Long life to Chávez, the best president in the entire world by today.

I live in Venezuela, is not a paradise yet but we are on the way. Less poverty, less inequality, better healthcare (oh sorry US doesn't have such a thing), more infrastructure investment than any other goverment in the past, more morale and autodetermination, among many many other marvelous things that have happened in the country.

Now why are the people so facist? Everybody can say his/her opinion, either living in the US or anywhere else.

Joey, Lyndsie Diego You just do not live in reality. I am Venezuelan and have lived here my entire life. this is the worst goverment we have ever have, no questions about it! But you believe in something that does not exist. Poverty is bigger my firend now, because chavez wants it that way.

Diego, so you believe that the "lista Tascon" is Ok, that I am not Venezuelan because I don't agree with your believes, or am less Venezuelan that has no rights. I have never seen a president that makes fun of the others that don't think like him like he does or that abuses his power to control everything... I go to bed and sleep like a baby but you might not because you are just like him if you support his doing.

I did not do enough for the underpriviledged in my country before Chavez took power. Today they are putting their hope in him. I spent more time running away from the corrupted politicians before Chavez was in power than in becoming the change my country needed. How is attacking Chavez a contribution today?

This is another case of a masochist / brain-washed / delusional person who enjoys the atrocities of a communist government and repeats what they told her to think and say.

A secret government lab in the US gave him this myterious form of cancer. They beamed it into his presidiential bedroom through invisible laser beams. Only because of superior and brilliant Cuban and Venezuelan medicine was he able to overcome it.

Venezuela is a great and sovereign nation, and although i don't agree with chavez' dictatorship, I'd still vote for him before voting for the following political figures:

    Sarah Palin
    Michelle Bachmann
    Ben Bernanke
    Dick Cheney
    Rick Perry
    Mitt Romney
    or good ole George Bush

    just to name a few.

I generally agree with you although you disagree with his dictatorship. Sometimes a country needs a dictatorship to overcome it's problems. That's why even in ancient Rome, a man had a right to have himself proclaimed a dictator in case of an emergency for a six month period.

John, please do yourself a favor. Learn about the hell that Venezuelans are experiencing and then give your opinion. Chavez is not a leftist, is a vandal. Please, read the Venezuelan newspapers, allow yourself to go beyond the international propaganda, and then share your point of view. More than 3000 (three thousand) people have been killed this year (only in Caracas) because the lack of security. It is easier to get kidnapped than to find mayonnaise in a Venezuelan grocery store. The most affected people are not the rich. They left Venezuela long time ago. The most affected people are middle-class and low-income workers. Do you know why Chavez went to CUBA to get health treatment? because ALL hospitals in Venezuela are in deplorable conditions. There is no cotton, no alcohol, no working equipment, no beds, no supplies. So, please, John, stop writing non-sense.

CNN, why do you "guys" continue to provide a forum to this "cerdo". He's got so much hate towards Americans that it is sickening him. Sick, but not enough for him to topple over. Unfortunately!

Also, I whole heartedly agree with all the Venezuelans posting here. If you are kissing Chavez's butt on your postings, you better be doing it from Venezuela.
