Bin Laden Group to build world's tallest tower

Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Holding has hired Saudi Bin Laden Group to build the world's tallest skyscraper in Jeddah, reports.

Jeddah Tower will be 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) tall and will contain a Four Seasons luxury hotel, apartments, condominiums and offices that overlook the Red Sea, Financial Times reported.

Kingdom Holding is paying Bin Laden Group, one of the world's largest construction companies, about $1.2 billion to take on the five-year project, according to Financial Times.

Saudi Bin Laden Group was founded in 1931 by Muhammad Awad bin Laden, the billionaire father of terrorist Osama bin Laden. It built much of Saudi Arabia's highways and infrastructure, as well as entire districts and cities.

The company constructed additions to the Muslim nation's two holiest mosques in Mecca and Medina. It operates throughout the Middle East and was chosen in 1964 to reclad the golden Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem.

Over the years, Saudi Bin Laden Group has expanded into a conglomerate that includes engineering, manufacturing and telecommunications, according to business analysis site

Osama bin Laden, the 17th of 52 children, inherited part of his father's fortune, but his radical activities led the family to disown him in 1994.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, a nephew of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, announced the tower building contract Tuesday. He owns 95% of Kingdom Holding, according to Financial Times.

When completed, Jeddah Tower will easily surpass Dubai's 828-meter (2,717-foot) Burj Khalifa as the world's tallest building.

The Chicago firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designed the project and will oversee its development, reported. Adrian Smith was one of Burj Khalifa's designers when he was with Skidmore Owings and Merrill.

Doesn't anyone see this as an extension to a larger American problem? America can no longer afford (and perhaps is not capable) of massive projects like this.

I wish WTC7 was as sturdy as this building in Madrid, which burned for 32 hours and still never fell. Hmmm, at its peak, temperatures reached 800 degrees Celsius (1,472 F) but it still did not fall. Please no comments. I am enjoying the cheese NASA gave me from the moon. Yummy!

Nice comparison. If the top 10 stores of the WTC had magically caught fire, of course the buildings wouldn't have fallen down. Next time, make sure your comparison building was hit with an airplane at 400 m.p.h. and included another 30 stories of weight above the fire.

Anyone with a problem with how the twin towers fell let me help you. Each and every skyrise building has a centrifuge built into every floor on the 2 oppossing corners of the previous floor. This is to help implode the building during a demolition. However the 2 Cargo planes that entered the towers enterd on a certain degree to miss the centrifuges. This was done so that the actual happening of the event could be witnessed rather than destructed immediately as would have happened if the cintrifuges did go off as meant to happen. This was done to highten the fear of the USA citizens. Then and only then after a planned time did the first centrifuge ignite and then as does happen came the corresponding explosinions of the other centrifuges. Problem solved! CIA did it!!!! Bin Laden was killed to stop him talking!

If these are the kind of delusional thoughts that go through your head then I'm surprised that you actually believe that Bin Laden is dead.

Well if you think that putting to death a person in the USA for murder is more justified than putting to death the person for "Accidental Death" in a Foreign country where you are not even from, outweighs the Texas man's rights in another country is more justified, well then that shows just how simplistic your brain approach is over there hey???

You may (or may not) be a demolition professional but you certainly don't read very well. Where in my reply did I suggest you were delusional about centrifuges? My concern is more that you are delusional about the CIA being involved and now that you say you are into demolition makes me even more worried that a delusional person such as yourself is working with explosives!!!

Besides, how else do they drop highrises in the middle of other buildings if they do not use centrifuges with the platform drop system?

"If these are the kind of delusional thoughts that go through your head". Where in that statement do I specifically refer to your centrifuges. I hope your so-called demolition skills are better than your language skills. I'm starting to agree with the really are "mentally challenged". Go back to your corner with your tin foil hat.

One more thing Chris! As hard as it might seem for you "Big is Best' People we do not all use explosives in demolition here and only certain people can use explosives. But I did drive them around the country on roadtrains delivering to outback mines on rough corrugated roads hoping the detonators wouldn't explode for 10 years! How bout you bud?????

There will always be people who assume that the WTC disaster was a government job. There are always idiots who think that the US government kills its own with disasters to be blamed for. Me thinks that any normal modern person who would conspire to kill those many people and start a war that kills more people would be fearful that when he meets GOD he would be paying for his sins of being responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people. Now, that being said, I would still like to know why the building next to the WTC imploded when the towers fell and we hear nothing of that disaster. I am not worried the WTC was a inside job. I do not submit to that cray-po. Sustained very very hot fire bends metal hence the towers fell. But the other 3rd. building we see in the videos falling in a perfect demolition, now that is still a wonder to me. GBA

The fact that "no one" demanded an answer for that one; the fact that scientists or engineers never came forward – that doesn't evoke any wonder? Just the fact the building came down, not the deafening silence, is your concern?

Okay. I won't say anymore except only in America will a "group" of people be allowed to blow up your buildings, then build their house of worship in its place – then build a tallest building in their country – and American's just go about business as usual. The Americans living today are not their parents, that's for sure.

seems pretty easy to me. step 1. locate an abonded building. step 2. have mythbusters fly a jet into it and wait for the results... step 3. prosecute as/if needed.

JDT – If the Native Americans want to start selling clothes that are contaminated with small pox and yellow fever or whatever throughout the country, have at it.
I wasn't alive at the time we took the land from the Indians, but no question we were the terrorists in those days. I think its a little past the time for revenge for the indians though.

Guess I'm not sure on the amount of time that has to pass before you can squash something, but I know 9/11 happened 10 years ago, the whole indian thing happend 200 years ago.
If we go by your logic, maybe the Jews can go whip on Egypt or Rome, black people can go back to africa and whoop on some other blacks whose ancenstors sold them into slavery, or the British can come whoop up on us and the french for helping us steal their land 200 years ago.
