Bin Laden Group to build world's tallest tower

Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Holding has hired Saudi Bin Laden Group to build the world's tallest skyscraper in Jeddah, Gulfnews.com reports.

Jeddah Tower will be 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) tall and will contain a Four Seasons luxury hotel, apartments, condominiums and offices that overlook the Red Sea, Financial Times reported.

Kingdom Holding is paying Bin Laden Group, one of the world's largest construction companies, about $1.2 billion to take on the five-year project, according to Financial Times.

Saudi Bin Laden Group was founded in 1931 by Muhammad Awad bin Laden, the billionaire father of terrorist Osama bin Laden. It built much of Saudi Arabia's highways and infrastructure, as well as entire districts and cities.

The company constructed additions to the Muslim nation's two holiest mosques in Mecca and Medina. It operates throughout the Middle East and was chosen in 1964 to reclad the golden Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem.

Over the years, Saudi Bin Laden Group has expanded into a conglomerate that includes engineering, manufacturing and telecommunications, according to business analysis site Hoovers.com.

Osama bin Laden, the 17th of 52 children, inherited part of his father's fortune, but his radical activities led the family to disown him in 1994.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, a nephew of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, announced the tower building contract Tuesday. He owns 95% of Kingdom Holding, according to Financial Times.

When completed, Jeddah Tower will easily surpass Dubai's 828-meter (2,717-foot) Burj Khalifa as the world's tallest building.

The Chicago firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designed the project and will oversee its development, Gulfnews.com reported. Adrian Smith was one of Burj Khalifa's designers when he was with Skidmore Owings and Merrill.

Fair is fair. Eye for an eye.

Planes dont take down buildings especially WTC and especially WTC 7.

Oh, here's one. I was watching elsewhere for your next dumbness, but it's already here.

How can a jetliner loaded with fuel NOT take down a building? Let's try it again. Next time somebody wants to implode a building on purpose, let's just load up a jet and use autopilot to crash that bad boy into the building. How do you figure the building will hold up? If a few well-placed explosives can neatly and quickly level a building, why couldn't a huge tank of jet fuel? Buildings are big, but they are not as invincible as they look.

It was a terrorist act. Take your conspiracy theories to a web site with less-intelligent readers.

I laugh at all these people that say the World Trade Center collapsed that day due to "implosion" (which is an incorrect term) or it was an inside job. What degree do you have in Engineering ? (or is it tiddly winks or navel gazinge?!), I have a masters in Architect & Material Sciences? . Just because you can't understand how something happens does NOT mean you are correct with ASSuming you know anything. The Intense heat fueled by high winds and oxygen melt steel all the time. How do you think Steel is produced !? And the design of the World Trade Centers were based on the 4 internal steel structures and the outer shell was just that – shell and not structural. And than make matters worse that due to the scare of asbestos in the 70's many of the Steel structure in the building were not adequately fire protected – but who thought there would be a plane filled with Jet fuel blasting into the center - People are idiots for thinking it was an "inside job"

I'm afraid your logic, intelligence, and common sense are wasted on these conspiracy buffoons. It's been 10 years and the Charlie Sheens of engineering are still spewing this garbage.

9/11 WAS NOT AN INSIDE JOB, MORONS.

Riiiiiight. I never said I was an engineer, I just have common sense enough to realize that there is no way it was an inside job. Clearly you do not.

      Let's review.

#1 Who in the world would benefit from us doing this to ourselves? The president? It made a mess of the economy, killed thousands, cost billions, and led to two wars that cost the Republicans the 2008 election. What good came to anybody from 9/11? Only al-Qaeda can even PRETEND to have gained anything from it, and if you haven't noticed, they are pretty much nonexistent now.

#2 How could anybody else have done it when al-Qaeda and bin Laden acknowledged doing it? I read an article (which is to say, I informed myself with reliable facts) where somebody was with bin Laden as he watched the whole thing unfold on TV. He knew when each attack was coming.

I could go on and on, but I'm saving some morsels for your next moronic statement.

You belong in the baffroom because you are so full of crap. If you want to stretch it that far, a lot of people benefitted. Your local police probably got some new equipment because of it. I bet somebody you know might have joined the military and got a job because of it. Oh, hey, lots of firefighters got overtime working on the pile, and those doggone greedy construction workers made a fortune hauling off the junk. Don't forget all the restaurants in Manhattan where those news reporters all ate, and I bet the media really burned it up on expense account that month. My cable provider loved all the people upgrading to get more news channels, and boy did the ball games sell out when baseball resumed. Churches are thrilled with all the people who came to pray and throw a few bucks in the offering plate. Lots of charities probably joined the conspiracy so they could drag in a few bucks for the Red Cross or United Way. Why, I bet folks across the river in Jersey are thrilled with how their view of the sunrise improved without those darn pesky towers. And you know, those widows and orphans probably just traveled and had the best time with the life insurance they collected on their loved ones.

Yeah, pretty much the whole #@*%in' world cashed in.

This article seems to lack some details... The implication is that the Bin Laden group is associated with Osama Bin Laden. It would help to actually lay that out though. Was Osama affiliated with the Bin Laden group before he was killed?

It says in the article that he was the founder's, Saudi Bin Laden's, 17th Son (out of 52 children). He was disowned by his family in 1994 after inheriting part of his father's fortune.

Osama was part of the Bin Laden family and he had 50+ siblings because his father had several wives. Osama was shunned by his family many years ago because he embarrassed them. Saudi Arabia revoked his citizenship. The Bin Laden Group is one of the largest contractors in Saudi Arabia and even built several US military installations. The problem with this project is that it will be built using foreign laborers from places like India, the Philippines, Burma, etc. These workers will get paid $10 per day and hardly get any time off. Their employers will take their passports so they can't leave. And if they complain they will get deported. I lived in Kuwait before...that's how the wealthy gulf coast nations treat their foreign workers.

  15. Lloyds of London

One foreign insurance company paid over 80% of the insurance claims for the WTC near-simultaneous office tower collapses on 9/11, even though the US government officially calls the events a "terrorist attack". Insurance doesn't cover "terrorist attacks" nor "acts of war". So unofficially they must be calling it a crime, or Lloyds wouldn't have paid claims. And as for how many died that day, if the "terrorists" would have waited just 45 min. they could have hit the office buildings when they were full rather than almost empty, killing well over 50,000.
