Heat sickens children on basketball court

Police responding to a call about four dead bodies on a Missouri basketball court found two adults and two children alive but suffering from exposure to the heat, CNN affiliate KSDK reported Tuesday.

Officers in Pine Lawn woke the adults, who said they were merely napping. But the two children, ages 3 and 4, were drenched in perspiration and urine and had steam rising from their bodies, KSDK reported.

The children were hospitalized. The woman, who is the children's mother, was arrested and may be charged with parental neglect, the station reported.

Pine Lawn is 10 miles northwest of St. Louis. The temperature in the area reached 102 degrees Tuesday, KSDK reported.

    The sun get's enough heat from US for cooking kids and pets. How about a CNN special advertising the fact that over 2,100 children go missing in America each day. We do find about 1,500 of them right-away each day. But we only find one or two per week who are dead. Where are the other 500 per day? Many are just toddlers. What's happening to them right now? If al-qaeda were doing it you'd be up in arms, and long ago.

      *very* true Philip...the agencies that do try and find these kids are very much still on their own.

    @Ruffie:

    Uh, do you think Mom should be commended for letting her kids run around drenched in sweat and p!ss?
    While Mom was "napping" on a basketball court?

    I don't know, maybe RUFFNUTT has a point, what with the violent nature of the Sun. Why just earlier she erupted and sent radiation hurling towards us. Me thinks proper charges are in order.

    I get the feeling the adults were wasted! I mean people don't normally go out to the basketball court to take a nap! Those babies should just be removed from the moms custody, permanently! We have heat advisories in many states, asphalt is melting, small kids should be somewhere cool, not laying down on a b-ball court, steaming like a sauna! Where's the Complaint Department, I want some action on this immediately, if not sooner! Too over the top? I'll calm down, now!! 😎
