These numbers are meaningless unless they are combined with the addition of new jobs. Some people may not file, because they don't qualify.

You don't qualify for unemployment benefits if you are working- wow who knew.

@Bermille: You're attempt at looking smart failed. The only way someone can file for unemployment (In Mi at least) is if they are laid off or the company went out of business. Any "at will" employee can be fired without reason and not be eligible for unemployment, so if that employee can't find a job and not file for unemployment then this prove OK's point. The media needs to have a person on staff to figure out what the net loss/gain is in regards to unemployment and new hires. Simply posting unemployment figures does not shed light on the situation.

This ought to make Barack Obama as happy as a bird in a tree! Now he thinks that he'll be reelected to office and I'm afraid that he's right and we'll all have more of the good ol' status quo!!!

Well, it looks like most everyone understands that unemplyment numbers are fudged. The true unemployment/underemployment rate is hovering just above 20%. Funny how they view a leaking bucket as being 90% full.

US property values have dropped over 2 trillion dollars so far this year, with no end in sight. If things keep going the way they have been, in a few more years the Federal Reserve will own most of US. see 'the federal reserve tranparancy act' being presented to Congress and the WH. We've never had a leader who would allow US this audit. Maybe President Obama is different from the rest? prolly not

Of course the unemployment figures are in the "you lie" pigeon hole.
I'm not naif enough to expect the government to tell me the truth, regardless of who is in office.
Please don't criticize my spelling. It is correct.

People get ready for the biggest collapse of the America economy by December 2011 early 2012; this crisis will affect Americans in the worst possible way. The US dollar is on the way to a decline where it will be worthless, Americans income and earning have not grown to coup with inflation, and Americans will not be able to sustain it. More mortgages will default and Property tax will not get paid, Car Payments, Credit Card Payment, and so on. Washington has no idea what is coming and much less are prepared for this collapse.

@Prophet..."Washington" knows. Don't kidd yourself. "Washington" planned this all out way ahead of time. It took "Eisenhower" nearly two years just to plan the invasion at Normandy. It took "Washington" how many years to plan these wars on and occupations of Irag and Afghanistan?

"Washington" won't allow US to audit the Federal Reserve located on our property either. How long did "Washington" spend making this plan?

At the distribution facility where I work, they hired a few temps, but we barely have enough work to meet our set standards and as a result people are getting fired for getting %97 average instead of over %100. I tell them to apply for unemployment.
