EU mulls tough sanctions on Syria as deaths mount

A day after the United States imposed stiff economic sanctions on Syria, European nations met Friday to consider their own stiff measures.

But on the ground in Syria, security forces continued their tough offensive against protesters on Friday and reports have emerged of at least 17 deaths, despite the intensified world pressure for President Bashar al-Assad to halt the violence and step down.

The European Union's political security committee was meeting in Brussels, Belgium to discuss options for toughening economic sanctions against Syria.

    @ George Patton

    well said.
History bears witness that great nations who forget soul searching , cannot accept their follies & learn from lessons of history cannot retain their greatness.
Always trying to find demons elsewhere is what we have been doing for quite a while. The consequences stare at us in the face today.

What we need to do here is to adopt a laissez-fair policy toward Syria since we have absolutely no right to say who will rule that country and who will not. We need to rid ourselves of our own arrogance and self-righteousness and quit trying to bully the rest of the world! It's both wrong and extremely stupid!!!

I see that this liberal, mindless troll got you this time, George. As one can plainly see above at both (10:58) and (1:35), he already trolled me twice here at this post. I guess that we’ll just have to live with it since CNN obviously has no intentions of doing anything about it!!!
Actually, if CNN DID do anything about it, I would never be able to post again, since every name I use, I stole.

I'm sending you, through osmosis, a cold Bud Light in a glass.
Not from the Olive Garden, though, sorry.
    JIF's on his own.

You Tea Partiers may not have much on your minds but you do make very good trolls here, I have to admit. If these subjects that we're talking about here were not so serious, I'd laugh!

I, as a Tea Partier, may not have much on my mind, but I DO make a very good troll here, you must admit. If I had any clue about the subjects that we’re talking about here, thad'd be the first. But it's more fun to steal names and drone on and on about my mindless Tea Party obsession and how much I really admire them.
    Ignore me. My wife does.
