Libyan anchor waves gun on air, threatens to defend Gadhafi

An anchor giving the news this weekend on Libyan state television lifted a gun on air and warned rebels trying to oust Moammar Gadhafi that staffers at al-Libiyah would become martyrs if they had to.  

Hala Misrati grabbed a handgun from the top of the anchor desk as news reports said that rebels were advancing toward the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

Al Jazeera English gave this translation: "With this weapon, I either kill or die today.

"You will not take al-Libiyah channel. You won't take Jamahiriyah channel, Shababiyah channel, Tripoli or all of Libya, and even those without a weapon are willing to be a shield in order to protect their colleagues at this channel. We are willing to become martyrs."

According to several reports, Misrati has been controversially outspoken about her support of Gadhafi. She previously reportedly referred to al Jazeera as "Swine Jazeera" and accused the news agency of killing its own employees and bombing its own offices.

    @Tom Posey...if you goto Youtube, there are a dozen or so videos of foreign news anchors reporting of Israel's MOSSAD recruiting mercenaries soldiers and then renting them to Gadhaffi. I first learned of this on NPR, and so looked into it for myself to make sure before I posted here.

    I am back from a day off....I see things are moving right along in Lybia. CIA operatives are leading rebbeks well agsinst Gadhafi srtugle to stay in power and control. Operatives are well informed from the inside regime rats, however Gadhafi elite are producing false decoy plans to detair strategic apposition interceptions

    I don't mind the "naughty" words: only their not being used very cleverly. Some of these were not worthy of the expense.
    banasy has posted her real name at least twice now, maybe three times, since I've been around, and now her husband's twice in a couple of days.
    Such prudes we raise in this country! Life can be fun.
