'Mild earthquake' reported in New York, governor says

A 2.9 magnitude earthquake has been reported near Altamont, New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement Saturday.

"Although this was a mild earthquake, out of an abundance of caution, I have ordered immediate inspection of nearby infrastructure, including a NYPA (New York Power Authority) inspection of the Blenheim-Gilboa Dam in Schoharie County," Cuomo said.

    Sorry for anyone affected.
Did Cuomo give the number of people seriously affected?
This is my messege to the world in general:"LET'S ALL TURN TO GOD & ASK FOR FORGIVENESS,THIS WILL REDUCE/END SOME NATURAL CALAMITIES".

I think that the people who live in the storms path and are believers of God/Bible should get on their knees and pray. The atheists or anyone who welcomes scientific facts into their lives should evacuate. On Monday we'll discuss our simple experiment. Oh wait, we still cant communicate with people who are dead. Would this not be a perfect way to prove the existence (aka non-existence) of God? If you get a good 4-5 million "believers" and have them kneel and pray in Hurricane Irenes path then there's no way a rationale, sane, real God could let them die right? I'd put my $$ on the population being 4-5 million less the next day.

    • Ask Him

I don't disagree with the logic of the "test" above of putting believers in the storm, but it fails to identify God's expectation that we use the free will he gave us and the reasoning our minds are capable of. I'd recommend you all take your lack of belief to God. Ask him to reveal himself to you in a way you respect. He'll reveal himself if you ask.

Play nice boys and girls... Imagine how boring life would be if we all had the same opinion!

On the Earthquakes… personally, I still like the theory that the earthquakes that are hitting the east coast are really only aftershocks of the 14.6 trillion dollar check bouncing in Washington 🙂

Mark 13:8 "nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains." It is written so clear...don't be so quick to mock the word of God.

I agree with you that thinking is a good thing.
I advocate increasing the frequency of thinking.

  15. Not everythinga registers on NY's scale.

One would think that two massive 100-plus story bulifings would register on the scale...but they didn't. Where did the Towers go? How could such massive building "collapse" without a thud? The USGS equipment is sensitive enough to pickup the thud that old buildings make when they are demolished. Why no thud on 911?
