7.1 quake strikes off Alaska

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 struck Friday off the coast of Alaska, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake was 6.2 miles deep - a relatively shallow temblor capable of causing damage.

The epicenter was in the Aleutian Islands, about 120 miles from Atka, Alaska.

The quake prompted a tsunami warning for coastal areas of Alaska, from Unimak Pass, Alaska to Amchitka Pass, Alaska, the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in the sparsely populated area near the epicenter.

    Hey Andy! I think this would be an opportune time To buy property in California if what yu say is true!Perfect time to get property cheap there due To the crazy amount of forclosuers! I have always wanted to own some Island property! Imagine how the value will go up onece CA is a bona-fide pacific Island !!

    For all those religious people out there trying to fit the news of a modern day Apocalypse around the corner into current news:

    The lava flow amount from Kilauea has increased by almost 15 cubic yards a day in the last year.
    Yellowstone Basin has increased in elevation by over a foot in the last few years.
    The Rocky Mountains raised in elevation by a few inches in the last year
    Death Valley is sinking further under sea level.
    The Sahara has claimed more that 10 million acres in the last decade.
    Glaciers world wide are receding.
    Antarctica is shrinking.
    Earthquakes are happening all over the place.
    Wars are going on all over the world.

    Oh wait... all of this has been happening off and on over all of recorded history...
    Oops... Never mind then as NOTHING happening today is any different than the last 5,000 years...

      Hi my friend right on....There is a lot more the earth is being hit by son bursts energy from explosion son flairs are called, this energy is so strong that it stretches our atmosphere, the evidence is the so called northern lights. Government keeps it quite I can not say anymore I am already being watched by GOD. Good luck

    to my readers ...There is a lot more the earth is being hit by son bursts energy from explosion son flairs are called, this energy is so strong that it stretches our atmosphere transferring the forced to our tectonic plates thence causing earth quakes, the evidence is the so called northern lights.
