Gotta Watch: They quit! (A Labor Day special)

It's Labor Day, a day that honors all the contributions workers make to the well-being of the United States.  For many of you, Labor Day is a work-free holiday.  So, while you're out enjoying your barbecues and last days of Summer, we thought we would bring back some videos that highlight some less than exemplary members of the workforce.

Curse-and-slide technique - It's almost impossible to forget the infamous JetBlue flight attendant who gained notoriety in 2010 for his ability to quit in truly spectacular fashion.  Forget giving two-week notice. This guy cursed out a customer, grabbed a beer and slid down the emergency chute.

'Everybody wants to be a princess' - Apparently a job really wasn't too important for this Kansas City woman when she decided she's rather attend a wedding than get a consistent paycheck.

Luck was on his side - Some of you would have thrown in the towel if your boss wouldn't give you a day off for a prior engagement. Well, one Michigan man did and it really paid off.

You can't collect unemployment if you quit or are fired for cause. But she is strange, I'll say that.

I've been at wits end like a lot of people. I'm so happy I didn't go ballistic and waste all that energy.

The flight attendant story is still the best ever. I would love to go out that way. Good for him, although the reality of his situation has to be setting in. Its going to be tough finding a job.

CNN has two more gay articles today. Please stop glorifying the gay agenda. This is not news. It is just a political tool.

@thinking7: you're counting them? Which ones are the gay ones?

How the f*** is this article gay? It doesn't even mention anything related to the topic. It's just a stupid-@$$ flight attendant, a lottery winner, and someone (a woman, BTW) who quit her job to go a wedding. How's that a part of the gay agenda?

You know, each of these folks did just what they wanted to at that time. Maybe there wasn't a whole lot of forethought involved, but it was their decision to quit, and in America, as long as it's legal you're pretty much at liberty to do so.

Agreed Ron. Plus, in the case of the woman who quit her job to attend the wedding there is a principle about not letting your boss walk over you. You need to be careful about where you draw the line in the stand, but if the company had approved the time off and then receded that approval after she bought her travel package it reflects poorly on the company too. Right now many companies are getting away with treating their employees poorly. However, in time the pendulum will swing the other way especially for those with any education and/or skills.

@ron: one of the golden truths is 'there's always options.' But that's anywhere, really. Some of the people in the middle east and north africa are *finally* starting to figure that out.
