Anti-Gadhafi fighters come under fire in Bani Walid

The days of calm that prevailed during negotiations shattered in one of Moammar Gadhafi's last bastions as loyalists fired on advancing opposition fighters, a chief interim council negotiator told CNN Thursday.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the new Tripoli Military Council said Gadhafi is cornered and has no means of escape.

Anees Al-Sharif would not divulge the fugitive leader's location, saying only that Gadhafi was surrounded within a radius of 60 kilometers (37 miles) with no way of leaving the area.

The anti-Gadhafi fighters were on a reconnaissance mission when they came under fire in Wadi Dinar, about 15 kilometers (9 miles) outside Bani Walid, said Abdallah Kenshil, a National Transitional Council member who is negotiating with tribal leaders in Bani Walid for a loyalist surrender.

Kenshil said Gadhafi and his sons, two of whom have been spotted by Bani Walid residents, were attempting to derail the peace talks.

"We know that Saif al-Islam Gadhafi and Mutassim Gadhafi are inside Bani Walid," he said. "Eyewitnesses we know by name inside Bani Walid told us they saw them."

Libya's new leaders have imposed a Saturday deadline on Gadhafi loyalists in the town to lay down their arms or face military force.

    Hopefully the anti-Qadaffy fighters will eventually lose out but I guess that's only wishful thinking on my part. What makes me sick here is seeing the right-wing thugs in Washington having their gigantic field day over the so-called "rebel" victory which without the cursed air and naval from NATO that "glorious" victory would never have happen in the first place!!! And now for the trolling to begin here...........

    The rebels say they have Ghadafi surrounded. I'll believe that when they show the proof with his physical body, dead or alive. Talk is cheap. Remember, these are the same people that claim to have captured Ghadafis sons. Propaganda ? Perhaps, but the proof is in the pudding. Show Me

    "Bani walid" that's where the (rats) rebels are saying the Gadhafi sons are now; that will give them, along with NATO the green light to move in on another safe heaven for black Africans (Gadhafi loyalist), there the rats will, in addition to the 60 thousand already killed, wipe out another 5 – 10 thousand! Then we'll hear that the Gadhafis were not found there–but now they know where they are, on so on, until the etnic clensing of true Libyans is complete...all part of the new world order President Bush spoke of, the negotiated settlement with the Arabs (Al-qaidea). "Arabs over Africans" the world's leaders are saying, you can't beat em, friend em!

    The terrorist western backed rats claim to have the leader of Libya surrounded, on three sides. LMAO. Just like they had captured 3 of his sons but somehow they all got away before the rebels could offer any proof of ever having caught them.
    This is one time I am glad to be retired American military special ops as I would certainly hate to be involved in any of this mess. Another Islamist state and extreemist one at that in the making that will give the west a rude awakening when they are given full control of the oil and gas wealth of Libya. At least before the western backed terrorists the country was very secular and were even at least tolerant towards blacks.
