Obama signs emergency declarations for Northeast flooding

President Barack Obama has signed emergency declarations covering 42 counties in Pennsylvania and 15 counties in New York after the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee brought near-historic levels of flooding to the region.

The declarations help speed federal relief efforts through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and open up federal funding.

Rivers have crested in some areas but are still rising in others.

Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri have all been left to fend for themselves so should the Northeast, oh that's right they voted for Obama.

Dave, that's one of the most ignorant and unfounded things I've heard in a while. The President of the United States isn't going to hold back emergency funds to states that "didn't vote" for him. One, it's absurd and a sick accusation. Two, if there were any merit to it, that story would be getting picked up and covered like crazy by the media (esp. Fox News). Get real.

You are right brother. Obama needs to buy votes whereever he can get them. Thats why he wants large unemployment so he can get the welfare check vote. Also needs to scare unions for their vote. He is bribing his way to reelection but it won't work. Monkeyman is too much of a DA.

Yeah that's why they haven't received help and why what little help Joplin received was quickly re diverted to States that went for Obama. Obama didn't even bother with going to Tennessee after the flood there.

That's also why Governor Nixon(a Democrat) is having to press for answers from FEMA about why Joplin was forgotten about after the news media left when Obama specifically stated that wouldn't happen. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

The only reason he came to Joplin was because he had egg on his face for running off to Ireland after a natural disaster just happened to yuck it up with the locals there. And the only reason Missouri even received a small amount of aid is because Obama came close to winning Missouri and thought it might give him the edge in the next election here. Not the same story in Alabama and Tennessee, he knows he doesn't have a prayer in those States so they received nothing, notta, zilch.

That's right. It's all a big conspiracy. Wipe out the states that didn't vote for him. I'm not exactly his biggest fan either, but come on. That's incredibly paranoid. I'll bet he also has a weather device he used to make those storms to target areas of Republican voters to help pave the way for a Socialist regime that will be controlled by the Illuminati???

  9. Really??

In Texas we have not near historic, but historic wildfires that have burned through about 4 million acres and still endangering many cities. Governor Perry requested federal aid, Obama denied it for the second time. I guess Perry should have filed the request as having caused damage to the property of illegal immigrants, and Obama would have been all over it. But, we're used to getting nothing but crap from Barry, so we're planning on unseating him from the White House.

@Really? That's because Texas went Republican in the last election also and Obama knows he has no chance of winning there.

With that type of reasoning, what was Bush's excuse for letting Louisiana linger for 5 days without even aknowledging the Katrina disaster!? Hmm? Any1? Because Louisiana is a red state! Not to mention, the presidency is not a dictatorship & these requests must go through several processes before they are approved by the appropriate agency & before signed by the president! Right now we are working with about 6-7 natural disasters in several states & I believe severity takes precedence! Actually Texas did get help earlier this year, after Perry dragged his feet asking for it! Right now we are recieveing help in the form of National Parks & Wildlife Emergency services! FEMA can't step in until the crisis is over, to assess damage! I'll also mention that the agency is taxed to the maximum, in every area! But repub Eric Cantor feels help should be based according to a states budget cuts & Ron Paul points out that Galveston didn't need FEMA in 1900's Great Hurricane! That's what's we can expect from repubs!!

This is amazing, my hometown of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania (Columbia County) is under 32 feet of water. The devastation is heartbreaking. I now live in the DC area and have been online and on the phone with friends and family members for 48 hours straight... I made 2 tribute videos using pictures from home and recorded myself singing in the background to help calm the panic...please feel free to visit my youtube channel and see the destruction for yourself... so sad...
