U.S. official: Intercepted al Qaeda communications show attack planned
American spy networks have intercepted communications from a known al Qaeda operative in Pakistan that indicates plans for a potential terrorist strike in New York or Washington D.C, according to a senior U.S. official.
The communication comes from a source that has in the past provided accurate information, the official said, prompting intelligence officials to sift through communications from other known al Qaeda cells.
No corroborating evidence has been uncovered, the official added.
The information indicates that the strike - thought to come from a vehicle-borne bomb - is meant to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attack.

I seem to remember them finding similar information when they found Bin Laden.
1.) al-Qaeda. lit. 'the Base'. 2.) Al-Jazeera's original headquarters, and ONLY headquarters at the time, was on the property of an US military base in Qatar. 3.) Now you know why it's called 'the Base' 🙂
Imagine that. A group of grown-ups , proving to the world, they're capable of counting to 10. They're bluffing. They probably released that communique, so they could do harm elsewhere.

Instead of concentrating specifically on the vehicle threat, they need to pay a lot more attention to human bombs. It would be a whole lot easier for a group of people wired to blow themselves up to infiltrate into the crowds. Detection of this type seems to be a larger task.

Yeah layminister, you may scoff, but don't discount the millions of people who may well be in danger. I would hope that you have at least a semblance of a conscience. If something does happen and people are hurt or killed, your self rightousness will really shine.
