U.S. official: Intercepted al Qaeda communications show attack planned

American spy networks have intercepted communications from a known al Qaeda operative in Pakistan that indicates plans for a potential terrorist strike in New York or Washington D.C, according to a senior U.S. official.

The communication comes from a source that has in the past provided accurate information, the official said, prompting intelligence officials to sift through communications from other known al Qaeda cells.

No corroborating evidence has been uncovered, the official added.

The information indicates that the strike - thought to come from a vehicle-borne bomb - is meant to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attack.

I just turned off CNN out of pure anger and disgust. Not because of the terrorist story I was watching but because of the moronic news reporter whose report included all of the information a terrorist would need to avoid being detected. He sttod and went through a litany of just what the police were looking for. And it's not just CNN that suffers from this lack of common sense. I seem to see it on every news channel I watch. It's almost as if the reporters are working for Al Quaida. I what world do they think it is smart to broadcast what the details are that could get the terrorists caught. Are those reporters that stupid to think that the terrorists don't watch TV when they know this type of information is out there? How is this different that out and out treason. Probably the only ones who are dumber are the ones who release this information to the press when they know it will be broadcast. It's beyond amazement how so-called intelligent people can behave in such an irreponsible way just to be able to stand in front of a camera and appear informed. Doesn't the safety of this country mean anything to them?

  11. @Ralph...think for one moment.

Consider what an easy time of it illegal Mexicans have had getting in without being detected since 9/11. Think of our huge nationwide "War on drugs" problem with no end in sight...all those drugs, still finding their way accross our borders undetected since 9/11. There's little of nothing keeping foreigners and whatever cargo they carry from getting in. Proof? Really? You didn't notice all the illegals? All the imported drugs? No wonder you are scared then. You don't know what's going on...the TV news won"t highlight these aspects for you. Ya gotta THINK man!

  13. Hitler warned of "terrorists" coming too.

WHen the German Reichstag Parliment Building burned down "nysteriously", Hitler ran on the platform "I myself will see to it that these terrorists are brought to Justice." His opponents all knew that it was just Hitler's thugs who did the deed. Hitler scared the German people out of their minds. They even gave-up their rights and went along with his Enabling Act, which gave special financing for hitler's Waffen SS to track the terrorists down. Governments throughout history have been making their own citizens afraid of terrorists as a means to do their dirty deeds while everyone's focus is on the boogeymen for centuries. Those Germans didn't have the internet, or they could have corresponded with ea. other...they could have read of their fellow citizens investigations into the Reichstag affair. Literally dozens of private, not beholding to any government investigations have been conducted into our modern day "terrorist" attacks. Lend them an ear. They are your fellow Americans after all is said and done.
