New Yorkers in the post-9/11 landscape: 'People have bonded together'

There’s no denying that New York is a changed place 10 years after the attacks that destroyed the twin towers and took the lives of 2,753 people.

The city has physically changed and people will forever mourn the losses. The psyche of the city has changed, too.

“We are more patient. We are more caring. I think people have bonded together,” said Sandy Levine, owner of the Carnegie Deli in midtown Manhattan. "I think we all think as one now."

Minas Polychronakis greets his customers every morning from behind the counter of his shoe shop on Wall Street. The store wasn’t always there. The original shop was on the lower concourse of the World Trade Center.

“It was raining glass, papers and bodies of course,” Polychronakis said. “I went outside and I saw the second plane hit the number two building.”

He saw a change in people that day, one that has lasted: "more kind."

"Sometime you have to pay the price to realize how good we are. They changed us for better," he said.

Newspaper columnist Pete Hamill has written about the people who make up the fabric that is New York for five decades.

“Because September 11 happened to us - not to me, not to he or she or you, but to us - that stayed in our character,” Hamill said.

“And I think with any kind of luck it will stay there as long as we’re here.”

Dr. Whiehurst is no "conspiracy theorist". Have any of you ever read his teams congressionally mandated investigation results? You know, the ones Congress REFUSED to have read in open session? No? No wonder you write it all off as a conspiracy. Just like the man Cicero spoke of...a man who published prooof that the Roman gov. had been corrupted by several powerful individuals. Virtually EVERYONE called him an "conspiracy theorist"...even his own sons called him "crazy" and robbed him blind. Some things never change. Calling forensic evidence a 'theory' is rediculously stupid given todays technology. YOU folks are the real conspirators.

...milling around amongst yourelves in utter ignorance. "We may never know what caused the fire that burned my own house down." Hogwash. Forensics tells you EXACTLY what made your house go up in flames. Get a freaging clue you ignorant suns a biathes.

"The taxpayer will be left footing the bill" my ASS. You have squandered your own children's future for luxuries you enjoy now but can NOT afford. Your own kids will be "the taxpayer who pays" for YOUR luxuriant dung. America has become overrun with ignorant suns a biatches who sit around like hens pecking at anyone who suspects your precious government whom you love more than America herself. Kiss my ass. I'm done pleading with you people.

I SAID I wasn't talking about my friend in CO.
    Perhaps I should change that...
However, diminishing someone's PERSONAL EXPERIENCES over and over, on the eve of some people's most grievous anniversary, is just plain petty.
One weekend is not going to lessen your message, but going without it for a short time may lessen someone else's pain.
Is it that difficult to show some compassion before going off on another tirade all because you ALWAYS have to have the last word?
In your own words, "Get a freaging clue you ignorant suns a biaths!"

Just fooking let it go for a weekend, can't you?
    DAMN, you're a stubborn cuss!
You know, I may be an ignorant son of a biatch, but at least I have some compassion for those left behind, something that seems sorely lacking in those who feel the need to constantly lecture.

    Just wait until Monday!!!!!!

More ignorance. 3,000 were said to have perished that day...sad enough. But what of the 100's of thousands who have been murdered by their own fellow American's since 9/11? The millions rayped by fellow Americans? No matter who did 9/11, what we do to each other on a daily basis is of an order of magnitude more urgent and discusting. If a business had leaders, hundreds of them worldwide who got caught having relations with just boys, we would shut that business down. But the church? They recruit troops from among our children for Uncle Sam...lieing to them by telling them that God approve so them killing even members of their own freaking religion. I can hardly wait for the day that it becomes cheaper to have corporate armies. The church will then be of NO use to governments, who will turn on the churches and expose them before annialating them. Keep looking at the boogeyman terrorists while igoring your own selves. None of you will even bother to read that investigations report to congress. Why? Ignorance.

...and where the compassion for the victims families? Where's their Justice? I'll tell you where. Virtually ALL of the families "graciously" accepted Bush's publicly offered cash bribe to DROP their lawsuits seeking answers...seeking Justice. Only a handful said F/U Bushco, and are STILL pursueing Justce for their dead in US courts. Have even ONE of you any compassion for them? Hell no. You didn't even care to follow their pursuits of Justice for their fallen family members. In other words, you could give a ratz ass about them. Now go cry your river of tears in public so you can get your reward in full.
