Iran to release U.S. hikers after they pay $500,000 bail each, attorney says

Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, two American hikers accused of being spies in Iran, will be released from an Iranian prison after a $500,000 bail is paid for each of them, the two men's attorney said Tuesday.

The lawyer said he has spoken to the two men's family and the are trying to get the money quickly.

If the two men walk free this would be the end of an international tug-of-war between Iran and the United States that has stretched on for over two years.

More than two years ago, the two men along with Sarah Shourd - Bauer's fiancee - were hiking in Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region along the Iranian border.

Iranian police arrested the three Americans, saying they illegally entered Iran. They were also charged with spying.

This is nothing but a ransom request for hostages. I wonder what the going rate is for a centrifuge on the black market?

People of the United States of America.President Obama and Iran.
I consider myself a Professional for what I have done in my past Military career and what i am doing now to serve my country.I will speak bluantly and with and anger that is justified.Based on the IRANIAN HOSTAGE crisis 30 years ago and what they have done to defeat our efforts in Iraq and Afganistan.there is no way in hell they should be allowed to dictate any terms on anything to the Uniied States. These SOBs should be told;what gas refinery or miliitary base do you want to lose of you do not release our two people.I time for diplomacy in this case and others should come to an end and if they do not start cooperating with the U.S. and the World it is going to be very deadly and painful for them.

Don't give up your military career just yet, because there's no hope for you in politics.
The Iranian-US problems did not start with the Hostage Crisis. It started with the CIA/MI6 coup d'etat during which the democractically chosen prime minister Mossadegh was overthrown. Before you act all arrogant and pretentious about your beloved USA, try keeping the disgusting actions of your nation in both past and present in mind.
Iran doesn't need to answer to World Police America just like how criminals don't need to answer to corrupt cops.

@Rm81dragon: that's all fine and good but if you get in trouble you shouldn't then expect the US Government to come bail your @ss out.
