Israeli FM warns against unilateral Palestinian move

The unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state would have "dire consequences," Israel's foreign minister warned Wednesday, a day after Palestinians said they would take the proposal to the United Nations.

Avigdor Liberman did not elaborate in his comments on Israel Radio, but said previous Israeli concessions like the withdrawal from Gaza had not resulted in peace.

Frustrated with stalled negotiations with Israel, Palestinians plan to appeal to U.N. member states to recognize their territories as an independent country.

The best way out for Israel, USA and all his patrons is to accept all the U.N. Security Resolutions and resolve the matter in a civilized way rather than continuing the ruthless occupation at the expenses of American guns, reputation and prestige in the world. Obama has to think seriously, what is important for America's image rather than some one else and also not only his election chances.

Somehow you forgot to mention the Arab states and the Palestinians who are required by UN Resolutions to recognize the right of Israel to exist in safe, secured and NEGOTIATED borders. As long as the Arab states and the Palestinians refuse to accept the right of Israel to EXIST it is futile to demand Israel to stop defending itself.

So it was O.K for a Zionist state to be declared unilaterally back in 1948 and get away with it , thanks to us. Though if you read Truman's memoirs he regretted the decision to recognize Israel within ten minutes of that declaration for the rest of his life.
Now tired of our laughable ' honest broker' role to get them justice, they are going to the U.N for recognition. nd of course the far- far right Zionists sitting in Tel Aviv come sobbing to us. We as always cuddle them & issue threats of our own to Palestinians against the will of international community and peace loving Jews everywhere.
like JStreet, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), Rabbis of North America for Peace in US and GUsh Shalom, Bat Shalom, Brit. Tzedek Shalom and many other orgs in Israel. And thousands of Israelis who came out in the streets of Tel Aviv in August to support Palestinian statehood.
Those having dual loyalty in Washington always make sure that USA stands on the wrong side of history.

Check the history. TWO states WERE created in 1948 – Israel and Palestine. Their borders were well defined. The vast majority of UN members agreed to the declaration. The Arab members voted no, and invaded Israel. They wanted ONE Palestine, and wanted to expel Jewish refugees from Europe.

Bimbo the Birthday Clown: I have to disagree. Back in 1948 the UN OFFERED to create two states in Palestine but only one state, Israel, was actually created. The Arabs preferred to try and destroy the state of the Jews instead of declaring one of their own. They've tried... and lost.

saywhat: It is a BIG question who has a "dual loyalty" in Washington or elsewhere, those loyal to Israel or those loyal to Hamas. Somehow it seems to me that the US and Israel have common iterests and common enemies and that therefore it is pretty easy to be loyal to both. On the other hand, it should be pretty tricky to be loyal to both the United States and Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda and their friends.

Palestine is not just Hamas. There are from 9-11 million Palestinians worldwide, half of them living outside there homeland since the occupation of by Israel. There are 1.2 million Palestinians who are refugees in their own country, relegated to a life of sub-human levels. Almost 20% of total Palestinian population, 650'000 are under Israeli detention in the occupied territories. Tried in military courts without recourse.
Invoking the spectre of Hamas everytime Palestinian statehood comes up is an old trick up the sleeve of those would rather that the oppression of these people in their own land continues. This idea is abhorrent to even Israelis barring those belonging to extremist groups.
About time the world sits up & take notice.

Hamas is the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Palestinian leadership. It was voted for by the majority of Palestinians. If and when the Palestinians will produce leadership ABLE AND WILLING to negotiate peace Israel will gladly negotiate a peace agreement with them. As long as they Palestinians do not have such leadership Israel and the rest of the world will have no choice but to deal with the leadership they ARE able to produce, the Hamas.

As for those harboring dual loyalty & even dual nationality up on the Hill & in Washington, this country of ours has suffered enough under their yoke. We cannot continue sacrificing American interests to appease them.

Palestinians live in Israel and Palestine as second class citizens, Nazis would have not done so many atrocities as Zionazis are doing right now.

Many people would be strongly advised to read a copy of the Torah. The land never belonged to the Jews. Just immagine if everything was reversed. The US supported the state of Palestine, and the Israelis were kept prisoner in a tiny little area. People would probably not be homeless in America because we would not be supporting Israel. We would probably never hear the world AlQueda or the Taliban. People who have never met an arab or muslim would not be racist against people they did not know. What would you do if one day someone showed up at your door and said you no longer own this land or this house? The Zionist Lies no longer work. People are not stupid. Go to:
http://www.ifamericansknew.com. Israel and the US, Stop violating international law! Let the Palestinians go!!!!

I have to disagree. If there was no Israel Islamist terrorists would not disappear. They would find another reason to murder scores of innocent people all over the globe... and the Palestinians are free to go to any place or state willing to accept them. Israel is not such place, however.

Now the US and Israel are against the Palestinans and the rest of the world. Why? The US should abstain and not to vote for or against. The Palestinians are living in misrey for 60 years. Let them have their own state and their own freedom. It is NOT Hamas. It is the zionist state Israel who delaying every opportunity for negotiation and wants to keep the status quo before and after Hamas even existed. Forget about the past and let the Palestinians have their own life, state and freedom. The US is making a big mistake to vote against the Palestinians' desire for freedom and place to live in peace. Israel began to have a lot of troubles with its neighbors such as Egypt and Turkey. The entire middle east countries are revolting not only against their dictators but mainly against the US support to Israel and for being agressive, stubborn and not allowing the Palestinians to be free and have their own state. Obama turned to be not smart at all. He is just looking only for his re-election in 2010 which he is going to lose badly any way.The Palestinians should go for it.

Unfortunately there is no way Israel will listen to uncle Sam when it comes to the palestinian rights and freedoms. Israel has only one thing it cares for, and that is the never ending financial asistance it's getting from the U.S. The real tragedy in this scenario is that the american tax payers continue losing their homes while their taxes are sent to Israel to build jewish houses on the stolen palestinian lands. ONLY IN AMERICA, where its citizens get no help from their government on foreclosures and yet Israel get all the financial asistance it can ever need to prolong the occupation. Surprisingly, it is not only palestinians suffering due to Israel's continual stubbornness, but the American tax payers as well. In the U.S.A. Israel comes first !!!
