Magnitude 7.3 quake strikes near Fiji

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck early Friday in the Fiji Islands region of the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S.-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, "a destructive tsunami was not generated, based on earthquake and historical tsunami data."

  1. The all-new 2012 EQ sensor

Relax folks. There haven't been any more earthquakes in the last ten years than in any previous decade. We've just developed new and improved EQ sensors that can detect more of them. NOT. we still detect EQs the same way. There truly are more of them both in frequency and destrucion. Get a clue. YOUR time is about to expire.

It's true! Equipment has come a long way. There are numerous earthquakes that register in the 1.1-1.9 everyday, but they are so minor that no one really feels them. Interesting huh?

In a roughly 16 month period from April 1905 thru August 1906, there were 8 major quakes that killed over 54,000 people. The world didn't end.

Which even gives credence to the biblical prophecy about the last days ...

“Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?.....and there will ....earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. Matt 24:3-8

2000 years ago, people would not have known whether earthquakes were happening in "one place after another" without the technology.

The potential for one on the other side of the globe to know literally within minutes of a earthquakes gives this prophecy credence...and allows the ability to verify that indeed earthquake in one place after another are really happening.

Incorrect. In the past 10 years there have not been any significant changes in the way that we track and detect earthquakes – we've been pretty good at earthquake detection for a good while now. What there has been is a six-fold increase in the number of earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 or greater from 1997 to 2007. In the past 14 days alone there have been 14 earthquakes measuring 6.0 or greater.

@XmasLloyd Peak year for earthquakes 6.0 or higher was 1995, with 203. Lowest yearly total since 1980, 1989 with 87. Since then, there hasn't been a year with fewer than 112 (1991). Lowest year for 7.0 and greater was again 1989 with 7. Highest was 2010 with 22. That's a threefold increase, but the change has not been monotonic. 1990 had 18, 2006 had 11 and 2008 had 12. Sounds like Apocalypse NOT to me!

@John Richardson – Glad to hear that the peak for 6.0 or higher was in '95. My post explained that from '97 to '07 there was a six-fold increase in quakes measuring 6.0 or higher. I never used the word Apocalypse – you did. I simply believe that the Earth is moving through a period of increased seismicity. Cheers.

7.3 is definitely powerful! So glad a tsunami wasn't generated. Tonga lies to the east and they would have been the first to have been impacted, not to mention Micronesia to the West, the South Pacific, then New Zealand and Australia. There is also the Chilean coast too. People don't realize how powerful earthquakes are, and in correlation to the strength of the tsunamis they generate.

Exactly, 2012 has been hyped by the MSM to fool the masses. Also, global warming is false. Please don't believe everything the MSM tells you. Go out and research yourself. Many many scientists have disproved global warming, but where is that in MSM? I believe that Jesus will come back and the earth will be destroyed by Him, so that a new earth can be inhabited. I can't tell you when that will occur, but it's most likely not before or on the date of 12/21/2012. Also, I believe we are starting to see the beginning of Matthew 24. Right now people think they can explain it away, but soon they won't have explanations.

@TheTruth72 Actually most scientists accept global warming. Its pretty hard to ignore the evidence. And by evidence I mean, taking all the recorded temperatures and averaging them so you have a global average. Then comparing that global average year over year. I suggest you do the same. the evidence is easily obtained and you can do the math yourself.

What scientists can't agree on is what has been/is causing the average global temperature to rise.

The bible does NOT teach that the earth will be destroyed....

"For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited:" Isaiah 45:18

Imagine a hot pan full of boiling veggies representing the favorite foods of nations along the Western Pacific Ring of Fire. This is magical thinking but let's just say that you're cooking this on a stovetop that just happens to be the USGS map of the world. Just think what would happen if the hot oil from your stirfry made contact with the water, soils and rocks in this region. Hold that vision for a second and ask yourself whether life as we know it will ever be the same after the shift happens; then go buy some local food, save some seeds and cook yourself a tasty homecooked meal with your family. Get ready!

I have had an issue with this for years...why are we buying spring water from Fiji or any other country for that mater. What is the carbon footprint on that...production and transportation of thousands of miles for something we can produce here. In fact, don't buy bottled water at all....it is not regulated and the amount of bacteria in it is usually higher than you would find in tap water in the US/Canada. If you really want to save the planet, filter your tap water and drink it.

I noticed that too. The important blogs like political or otherwise important world events only get a few hits. But every time there's a new earthquake blog the hits are always in the hundreds. So you click on it to see what all the hype is about and you realize why. Almost all of the comments are about the second coming of Christ and the end of the world. These people need to read some intelligent blogs and educate themselves. Besides, if the end of the world is coming what are we going to do about it? I'll tell you, put your head between your legs and kiss your @ss goodbye!

Looks like the USA is experimenting with their new directed energy weather manipulating earthquake creating High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) weapon again, that assisted in bringing down the wtc during the 911 inside job. They're going to destroy the atmosphere playing with their thingy. We'll be sucked off into space unless we kill ourselves off in WWIII first.
