Quakes hit off Cuba, Japan and New Zealand

[Updated at 10:39 a.m. ET] The U.S. Geological Survey has revised downward the magnitude of Thursday morning's earthquake off Cuba to magnitude 5.1 from magnitude 6.0.

[Updated at 5:20 a.m. ET] A magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit off the southeastern coast of Cuba early Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake was centered 77 miles north of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and 370 miles southeast of Havana, Cuba. It hit at 4:43 a.m.

Forty-three minutes earlier, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake rumbled off the east coast of Japan, the USGS reported.  No tsunami warning was issued.

Both quakes were shallow, striking at a depth of six miles.

And seven minutes before the Japan quake, a magnitude 6.0 quake was recorded off the coast of New Zealand, according to the USGS.

    @ma and pa: oh but the Earth does shift orbit so your ramblings have no meaning. The earth rotates in an elliptical orbit which means sometimes it is closer to the sun than other times(which is also where some of this global warming nonsense comes from). Read a science book sometime instead of that fairy tale book you're always reading.

    Global Land Reforms will appease Mutha Eartha's anger greatly.

    those who live in darkenss will laugh , and scoff , and blow this off , but some day Jesus is coming back for his people , and those who are not saved and HIS will see hell on Earth like they never have seen , just in the days of Noah they thought the old man was nuts till it flooded the whole earth , and the people were crying , screaming to come in the ark and they ALL drowned !
