Strauss-Kahn acknowledges 'moral weakness,' denies violence against maid

What happened regarding a Guinean maid in a luxury New York hotel suite in May was a "moral weakness," French politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn said Sunday in an interview with French television station TF1.

He denied any violence or aggression, but said the incident was "an error, a mistake - a mistake concerning my wife, my children, my friends" as well as the French people "who placed their hope for change in me."

The former International Monetary Fund chief returned to France earlier this month after a long legal battle stemming from allegations made by the  maid.

Based largely on the testimony of his accuser, Nafissatou Diallo, a grand jury indicted Strauss-Kahn on seven counts - two counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, sexual abuse in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, attempt to commit rape in the first degree and forcible touching.

Questions arose over the credibility of Diallo, prompting prosecutors to back off. In August, a New York judge waived the sexual assault charges against Strauss-Kahn.

Strauss-Kahn  also said that accusations by French writer Tristane Banon that he attempted to rape her in 2003 are "imaginary."

It is the birthright of every French person to have an extramartial fling. I admire the French for their s*xual honesty & he has nothing to apologize for. That wench, she has everything to apologize for. What a shame women like her squander the goodwill we have built up for legitimate victims.

This is quite easy to speak about French people thinking that DSK is just one among all French people!

This guy is just a bast**d and you figure out that everyone acts the same.

He was on French tv tonight and played a role as any Actors Studio student could do...manipulation, lies, fake excuses...all of his person is perverted and hopefully, French people are not this way.

Unbelievable. The guy admits he made unwanted physical advances on the woman–he admits it!–and we STILL get crap like this from people.

So being moral irresponsibile means he is innocent against the maid. He is a crook and money can buy freedom for these rapist. He took the maid down, both physically and mentally, so he could go free. Really there is no justice in this country.

So...the U.S. let another "big wig" go free despite a Grand Jury indictment.
We allowed "forces" to destroy a witness without giving a jury the benefit to decide – so US interests could "save face" and " get benefits.
He goes back to France where he can't be touched got away with criminal behavior and thinks he can make excuses and move on. If this was any other "regular"person, a trial would already be scheduled and he would be sitting in Rikers!

Congratulations to the U.S. More and more the legal system appears more like a corrupt criminal organization than the impartial system it was designed to be, and it's sad beyond words.

There is no justice in this country, our politicians are as bad as this guy. Hope the maid wins a huge money law suit against him. Our court system is not about justice, its about how much money you have. Look at the people on death row that tells the story on ljustice in these United States.

First he never did any such thing, and it was all scurrilous lies, and now he did it...but it wasn't him. It was his moral weakeness getting the better of him, and wasn't as bad as it was claimed to be.

I've never understood how fast this happened – she goes into his suite to clean it and he's overcome by the smell of cleaning products and makes his move? I usually have trouble finding someone to bring me extra towels...

This is a last minute confession. Diallo was helpless, and needed a lot of money to bring this man to justice.
