Gotta Watch: SNL political parodies

Politicians provide comedians with plenty of material. Back in June, the "Weinergate Scandal" had every comedian talking.  Now, the jokes are coming from the GOP presidential debates. "Saturday Night Live" has a long history of bashing politicians so  here are some of our favorite "SNL" political parodies that you've just gotta watch.

Meet the GOP candidates - Over the weekend, "SNL" introduced you to the GOP presidential candidates on the show's season opener.

Bachmann's stare to nowhere - Back in January, Rep. Michele Bachmann gave "SNL" plenty of material when she delivered a Tea Party rebuttal to President Obama's State of the Union, looking slightly off camera.

'I can see Russia from my house' - It's hard to tell the difference between Tina Fey and Sarah Palin. This particular skit from 2008, featuring "Sarah Palin" and "Hillary Clinton" during their race for the White House, is a must-see.

The ad that launched a thousand parodies - "Saturday Night Live" took aim at Christine O'Donnell back in 2010 when she publicly claimed she wasn't a witch. Check out the "SNL" version of the ad that launched a thousand parodies during O'Donnell's quest to win the Delaware Senate seat.

The real Michele Bachmann has this tight smile thing she does. Looks something like Alien where it's about to spit acid. If the actress on SNL could have done that....then that would have been Michele Bachmann spot on.

Sounds to me like Perry is the one giving all our money to illegals and forcing people to get medicated by his buddies in big Pharma. Just an observation. Errr...and doesn't Rupert Murdoch own quite a few discredited news channels....that's guy's a real class act.... Who does he give his money to?

Somewhat bitter at life, aren't we? Fact is, they ALL dip their hands in the cookie jar!! The cookie jar seems to be the only bipartisan thing out there! Relax... it's comedy. You can find it funny or not! If you think you can do better, set it up, act it, film it and post it on YouTube. If people find it funny, who knows, maybe it'll go viral and you'll be famous! Try it. Otherwise.... STOP WHINNING!!!!!

THunter99 – you spelled learning " learining".... and your punctuation has problems too... you need a comma after history... fail... nice try though, bum

Luke Thornton – Thanks! Good catch! But can a typo (as opposed to an actual error is spelling) be forgiven?

A lesson in history and economics would only give DEW further ammunition against the demobrats. They are a part that outspends their means with their only solution to take away from people who have worked hard to be successful and give it to those that stand in welfare lines.

Well Dew, you just have to grow a pair, just as the candidates do, knowing full well that SNL is NICE compared to the rest of us. And that applies to both parties, no one is immune and I've seen hilarious skits on Obama too – so lighten up.

SNL never does a parody which makes a liberal candidate look bad. Even the parodies of Bill Clinton were charming.
I would like to see a parody of President Obama reading into a teleprompter that had been hacked and had it's text replaced with dialog from Spongebob Squarepants.

Well when SNL parodies politicians it's usually because of who they are and the dumb stuff they do. I can't really think of one thing Obama has done that is stupid, and I'm not talking about his job as POTUS, just in general. Whether some people like it or not, its extremely difficult to make fun of Obama since he doesn't really do anything that you can make fun of him for. SNL's past couple of seasons trying to use Obama as a cold open have been completely stupid. They are never funny because all the skits do is have Armisen attempt at imitating Obama, which fails miserably. Besides, you're just crying anyway, SNL makes fun of tons of Democrats in the same manner as Republicans. BTW stop using the term "liberal" in place of Democrat, since they aren't interchangeable.

Maybe you haven't watched SNL much. They hit everyone hard. The guy that did Clinton made a mint. Don't be so uptight about it. It's comedy and if it a little too close to home, maybe you should reconsider your candidate.

I think political skits are so annoying right now. I am so tired of them and yes, there are not "fair and balanced" political skits at least not anymore. I like the Clinton ones! LOL Loved Will Ferrell as Bush too. They just aren't funny anymore! On with something we can laugh at. There is nothing funny about our government right now,

wouldn't it be funny if the liberal SNL cast and liberal CNN crew showed someone mocking Obama?! oh wait, that'd probably be racist......... and he does no wrong anyways, what could anyone ever say of him?

Obviously you missed those because SNL has covered them often enough; why are so many people so whiny about a few parodies – even out of these the only really funny one I found was Newt and the Sarah/Hillary exchange. You really just need to lighten up, its JUST parody. Or go to FOX.

The million-dollar question: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Here’s a quick test. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Have you looked with lust? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done those things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that if you are guilty you will end up in Hell. God, who the Bible says is "rich in mercy," sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross for guilty sinners. We broke God's Law, but Jesus paid our fine. That means He can legally dismiss our case. He can commute our death sentence: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then He rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent (turn from sin) today and God will grant everlasting life to all who trust in Jesus. Then read your Bible daily and obey it.

Thanks Zach. Great way to live as an example.

If you haven't watched SNL since the 70's, then you don't know if it has been funny. There have been ups and downs. Some casts were great, while others failed.

The funniest SNL political skit ever was the on of Obama and the Chinese Prime Minister in a news conference together where Obama kept bending over and grabbing his ankles like his b!tch for the Prime Minister-priceless and so true.
