Ice cream cone or Ku Klux Klan member?
A Florida shop had to scrap its ice cream cone mascot because passers-by thought it looked like a man dressed in a Ku Klux Klan outfit.
"We were just trying to get people to come in," store employee Jasmine Gonzalez told CNN affiliate WTSP. "We thought it was something fun for people, but eventually people took it the wrong way."
The Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches shop opened a few months ago in Ocala. The owners hired a man to stand outside the shop dressed in a vanilla ice cream cone costume to attract business.
At first store owners told WTSP they had no idea the outfit was upsetting passers-by, but then they noticed a drop in business, and began to wonder what was impacting their sales.
Eventually, Gonzalez said they were tipped off that people were avoiding the shop, because they thought the peaked cap was not an ice cream cone costume, but a KKK robe. The mascot was immediately pulled off the street.
Some customers told WTSP they could understand the confusion, while others laughed at the ordeal.
"They (KKK members) don't color themselves (with sprinkles) like that," Wayne Austin chuckled to WTSP as he looked at the costume.
Does this mean that theres going to be klan rallies at your neighhood Baskin Robins Store?
How in the he!! do you confuse an ice cream cone with a clan member? I'm from Daytona Beach and either they all went stupid after I left or Daytona is immune to the stupid virus.

When is the non-black man going to get the message. U don;t fool with sacred horrors. Any suggestion of the KKK and an ice cream cone is gross. If U haven't experienced it, U can't imagine it. Sprinkles or not. He really taught himself a lesson. The customers didn't come in!

WTH???? From the pictures I've seen on the internet of Klansman, absolutely no where did I see any of them wearing waffle cones or sprinkles. Come on people ... if you can, try to use some common sense!
At first I dismissed this. Then I remembered the word "corner" in a business in the South has been a Klan membership signifier (like Cozy Corner Cleaners I saw once in Memphis, or Concerned Citizens Corps, names like that). The combination of southern town, vanilla ice cream cone head, the name of the business, and the fact that people were avoiding it... who knows. Fortunately, I do not live in a former slave state with a history of segregation.

STOOOOOPID southern people to think a guy wearing an ice cream cone outfit – with a CLEAR cone lower part – is a KKK guy – as if they (KKK members) stand on the corner in the white sheets. Do they even SELL white sheets in the south? STOOOOOPID!!

Well, the ice cream was white and we all know how white ice cream doesn't like to mix with other flavors. I'm going to pee on myself...
That's like just too much, my girl friend got yelled at or received a "talking to" from an elderly black woman about how, "as another black woman, you should know better than to drive around in a car with KKX on the license plate." Idiots through and through.
