Packers introducing new security measure at Lambeau Field

The Green Bay Packers say they'll be the first team in the NFL to screen fans with hand-held metal detecting wands when the team hosts the Denver Broncos this Sunday.

The wands, which will replace pat-downs as the primary method to screen people as they enter Lambeau Field, are similar to those used by the Transportation Security Administration at airports around the country.

The measure is being implemented at the recommendation of the NFL, team representative Aaron Popkey said.

The Packers' director of security and risk management, Doug Collins, said the procedures will increase the safety of fans at the stadium. He advises fans to arrive at Lambeau earlier than in the past, since it may take more time for Green Bay police officers to perform the enhanced inspections at the gate.

Pat-downs may still take place if officers notice anything suspicious, Popkey said.

I can't believe someone took a taser to a game. Who would spend all that money to go to a game planning to attack someone?

The idea of protecting the public from terrorists, public idots, people a few frys short of a happy meal, has reached new heights. Wands are not new. Nobody really likes being "patted" down anyways.
I wonder, is this going to be adeqate protection against "porcelain" guns and knives? Oops. Did I get somebody upset? Almost anything can be a weapon.
Good Luck as always to the Green Bay Packers...Hoorah!!! 😉

God knows we have enough wackos of our own itching to get off on shooting sprees, pipe bombs and assorted explosives without having to worry about foreign terrorists.
So pat downs or wands thats the way it has come to be.

  11. New Security measures based on "secret inteligence".

The FBI reported to the White House that al-quida was reported by Al-Jazeera to be thinking about disguising themselves as NFL fans. Hence the new security procedures of US.

Wrong... they are incrementally moving us; actually, training us for the GREAT DAY: November 1, 2011!

That's when the conceal/carry law goes into effect and everyone and their mother, if you've gone through the training, background check and paid your fees, will be allowed to carry a concealed hand gun. Now, these folks are NOT allowed to bring a gun into a NFL stadium under this new WI law, but then, we are NOT allowed to sneak beer, hard alcohol and illegal drugs into the stadium either... we all know how well that works!

The only good thing about these "New Security Procedures" is it increases employment, more security people AND, it allows us to tailgate longer, as it will take an eternity to actually get into Lambeau Field!

Finally, for those of you who actually like the “Pat Down” and “Cavity Search”, be prepared for those to dramatically increase…

      Dear Jean Sarte Milwaukee, Wi.
What a coincidence. I'm an inactive volunteer with the Milwaukee Police Department. As a former volunteer, we were not allowed to carry in Milwaukee County or anywhere else for that matter.
Ohio has had the conceal and carry law for a couple of years now. In this state your not allowed the permit if you have any felonies or serious crimes on your record. You must attend a certified gun trainiing. You must be of good mental health. There are numerous places publicly you can conceal and carry, as well as places it unlawlful to have a firearm or ordinance. If you get stopped by local law enforcement while your concealing and carrying, you must yeild to the officer by placing both of your hands on the steering wheel and tell the officer you have a weapon.
Having any firearm is a great responsibility. The right to bear arms is a awesom right, one to be recieved with utmost respect.
Hope it works as well in Wisconsin as it does sofar in Ohio.

...and some go so far as to publicly stab someone in the back. A bit anti-social, but not the big bit. The big bit is still a secret.

There are always going to be morons at stadium games...and when alcohol is involved, the violence can go exponentially elevate, too.
Too bad it's the few that has to ruin it for many, but all in all, I'd rather have the wand than the pat-down.
