Gadhafi's house lies in ruins

On the outskirts of Sirte, a mansion with a columned facade lies in ruins, though its opulence is still evident under shattered glass and chunks of concrete. This was Moammar Gadhafi's home in the city of his birth.

The house had its own salon with barber chairs and massage tables. Ornate four-poster beds furnished the bedrooms and there were lavish decorations all around.

In the basement is a large conference room. Is this where Gadhafi planned his last stand or arranged for his escape?

The deposed leader has not been seen in public for months. His whereabouts are unknown but some believe he may still be hiding in Sirte.

People wandering through the house are stunned. They thought Gadhafi lived in a tent.

Most residents have abandoned Sirte after a month of fierce battles. Revolutionary forces have fought Gadhafi loyalists street by street, cornering the last vestiges of the old regime to one district. With their backs to the Mediterranean, the loyalists used machine gun nests and snipers atop buildings to fight back Friday.

I don't know the Libyan building codes, but after six months of bombing and looting there can't be to much left.

Your backed up against the sea. Your supplies are just what you have with you.

How much could a deposed tyrand possibly pay? I can't think of an amount that would keep me fighting..

I tried to post a Flintstones joke and my computer froze. I guess I won't try that again.

No wonder Qaddaffy's house is in ruins after those NATO thugs bombed it over and over again! If anybody needs to stand trial for "crimes against humanity", it's these creeps! As JFK once said, life isn't fair and these guys prove him right!!!

How true that rings, George! Not only the NATO pilots, but David Cameron and Nickolas Sarkozy need to be tried for the very criminals they are along with Barack Obama!!!

Although his despotic reign is finished. This man has shown that he's a fighter and believes to this day that his cause is right. Give me 10 men with his convictions and we would rule the world.

We don't know that at all. My guess is he's on his way to Corsica on a yacht or hiding down a hole like Saddam Hussein. But he's not fighting. He's ordered his forces to do it for him.

Ghadafi has got to be on a beach somewhere in Venezuela sipping on a pina collata with good ol' Hugo. And as for the remaining loyalists, either way they're toast, I doubt if they laid down their arms and gave up that the new form of gov in Libya will be kind to them. As long as they go down fighting in what they believe in, more power to them.
