Murdoch heckled by Occupy protesters
News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch was repeatedly interrupted by hecklers while delivering the keynote address at the National Summit on Education in San Francisco on Friday, CNN affiliate KGO reported.
"Resist corporate domination of public education!" one heckler said, according to KGO.
Video of the event shows others in attendance cheering as the protesters were removed.
KGO reported that the activists are a part of US Uncut, a group against cuts to public services. The group claims Murdoch is trying to make money from public education.
The interruptions came shortly after Murdoch said, “"We need to tear down an education system designed for the 19th century and replace it with one suited for the 21st," KGO reported.
Murdoch has been an object of scorn since revelations surfaced in July that journalists working for the News of the World had hacked into the cell phone of a missing girl, deleting some of her messages to make room for more. The deletion of messages gave 13-year-old Milly Dowler's family hope that she was still alive when she was already dead.

Why is it that these blogs always bring out the dim witted ultraconservative right wing weirdos? People can't work so long as businesses keep replacing workers with machines that do the work of 10 people. Murdoch is a perfect example of the fat toads that are so greedy that they look for every excuse under heaven to NOT hire workers. No, Jim, it is not acceptable for corporations to stick their nose into education. And if the rich do not provide jobs to fill then they are the problem. Also, believe it or mot, there are many people who cannot work for very legitimate physical or mental reasons and handicaps of many sorts. The 1 per cent are directly responsible for the mess we're in, both environmentally and socially and they are responsible to fix it.

Ya, Educational Corporations. Every bit as good an idea as Prison Corporations. Somebody want to try explaining how Educational Corporations at the K-12 level would increase profits for shareholders over the long run? Prison Corporations do it by writing legislation at the GOP ALEC meetings designed at increasing the number of people incarcerated so that Prison Corporations can make more money. Once an Educational Corporation has their claws into all the students available to them, how exactly do they then increase their profits to keep their shareholders happy? Start charging more per student? Cut quality to decrease expenses? Run ads to get people to make more children?
Making more children is part of the equation that has made this overpopulated world the mess it is. There should be a heavy tax penalty on any one with more than 2 children. Families that must depend on social services for help to survive should not recieve additional benefits for more than 2 children per household. And companies need to be forced to hire local workers wherever they det up dhop or be heavily penalized for bringing in out of area work crews. The Unnatural gas industry promised many jobs in PA and then brought in 90 per cent of its workers from the West. OCCUPY has the right message and I encourage them to continue until the greedy get the message.

I agree, at first it was about corporate greed, but recently I'm seeing more about the rich 1% being the cause of everyone's problems with debt. People need to take some responsibility for their choices. If you don't want to incur so much debt for education pay towards your tuition during your education, take more time to finish school , find a less expensive school, etc.. I don't understand this demand for more hand outs from the government. People are always looking to place blame on someone else for their problems.
