Police: More alleged victims found in Philly captives case

A woman rescued from a boiler room in a Philadelphia apartment building says she had two children while she was held against her will, police said Tuesday, another development in the bizarre case.

The woman, Tamara Breeden, is one of four mentally disabled adults rescued from the boiler room over the weekend, and authorities have located 10 others who may be victims in the case, said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.

The four people, three men and a woman ranging in age from 29 to 41, were found locked in the room with no food and only a bucket for a toilet, police said. The pitch-black, 15-foot-by-6-foot space houses what police described as a boiler used to heat the building. A penetrating stench of urine and feces still hung in the chamber days after the discovery.

    @ banasy:
You're probably at the library. Would you look this up for me, please: "capitol offense."
PS: I'm off today, waiting at home to oversee some construction work in the apartment.

Would it be terribly unkind of me to remind you people taht this as a very sad story? This is a news blog after all.

Chad. A friend of mine was found by the police and her name was never released to the press. I wouldn't want my name released if this were to happen to me. It would be very upsetting to have people pretending to feel sorry for me one minute, and then making fun of the entire situation the next.

Releasing the names of these poor victims is an outrage. These victims should be protected, NOT exposed. And especially not exposed to some of the very sick people posting here. That's for sure.

There are typographical errors made by even professionals. What kind of person would take the time to point out a misspelled word when the topic is so very sad? How would you feel if news of you being treated as these poor souls were, and people responded with jokes about it and when someone made a serious post, others looked for spelling errors instead and reasons to joke about it. Who are you people?

Thank You Edina. I really do not understand the police strategy of releasing the names of eyewitnesses and victims to the press. How is telling everyone what their names are going to help solve this case? Are Philadephia's police more concerned with throwing food for dogs to chew on than they are in protecting victims and witnesses? What if the perpatrators are part of crime ring? Do not criminals try to kill the eyewitnesses before they can testify in court?

Mr. Joey Isott-Fraschini. Would you mind if the name of your wife were released to the press if this happened to her? Or if the police didn't release her name to the press, would you call them up and tell them what her name was so it could be published? I dearly hope not. But it wouldn't surprise me after reading at some the posts certain people have made here today.

I almost thought the last line was "I'm telling." It would have fit the tone of the rest of it pretty well.
