Inquest: Singer Amy Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning

Singer Amy Winehouse's death this summer was the result of alcohol poisoning, an inquest ruled Wednesday, as it reached a verdict of "death by misadventure."

A pathologist told a coroner's court in north London that alcohol toxicity was the cause of the 27-year-old's death, with her blood-alcohol levels measured at more than five times the legal limit for driving.

The Grammy award-winning artist, who had battled with alcohol and drug abuse over several years, was found dead at her north London home July 23.

Testimony at her inquest showed no traces of illegal drugs in Winehouse's system - but more details emerged about her losing battle with alcohol.

Winehouse's physician, Dr. Christina Romete, said she saw Winehouse at 7 p.m. the day before she died, when the singer was tipsy but still able to hold a conversation.

Asked when she was going to stop drinking, Winehouse replied that she would call Romete over the weekend to discuss it, the physician said.

Winehouse was determined to do things her own way, including therapy, Romete said, but was aware of the risks of alcohol abuse.

Alcohol affects people differently. Some people after a night of drinking can sleep the day away but other people wake up early after a night of drinking. If you want to know why your body does this, this article gives a great explanation on it.

Get this, My sister had one of those operations where they reduce the size of your stomach and all the sudden she became a lush! couldn't drinkin the booze. Today at 53 she's just barely making ends meat, no retirement for her.

Amy Winehouse was a great singer, unforrtunately she was also an alcoholic/drug addict... Gone too soon...Hopefully reading this will deter todays youths from abusing alcohol/drugs. Seems like all we hear about are teens and drug overdoses, alcohol poisioning, suicide (usually because of addiction to drugs and/or alcohol) Parents need to look for warning signs in their (teens) for use of drugs and/or alcohol, both that can lead to depression and ultimately death – (untimely) death..as Miss Winehouses' death was definitely untimely...Be aware...Show you care...

Wow,CNN...judging by what I just read, what isn't appropiate to post?Seems to be the season of hot wind and haters.Anyhoo...Sad about Amy.One wonders how your life can seem so full on the surface yet underneath you're empty and unfulfilled. No amount of alcohol, drugs, fame, riches, etc, etc, can fill that empty, barren, windswept hole in your soul.(Not even the psychobabblers can help you).But...all is not lost;there is one who can help when all else and everybody else fails...Ready?Read the Gospel of Matthew,chapter11,verses28-30. He is the One.I've everywhere Amy's been(and many like her),and when all was said and done,I wound up broke, sick, alone, andworse of all,in prison, and rightly so.(No,no one was injured or killed, thank God.)-and then,I met...Him,and rest is history,35years worth.Up,down,sideways.But He has never left nor forsook me,through everything. And now,if I couldn't rub two nickels together(and sometimes can't!),I still would lack for nothing, because He always, always comes through.Always.So...There it is.Peace to all.
