Plane makes emergency landing in Poland; all passengers safe

A Boeing 767 plane made a dramatic emergency landing at Warsaw, Poland's Frederic Chopin International airport after problems with its landing gear, an airport spokeswoman said Tuesday.

All the passengers on the flight, from New Jersey's Newark airport to Warsaw, are safe and uninjured, she told CNN.

The LOT Polish Airlines flight, which had been due to land at 1:35 local time, circled above the airport for an hour before coming down in a belly landing at 2:40, she said.

There were 230 people aboard the flight, Poland's TVN broadcaster said.

    I saw it live over my home. Plane landed without opened landing gear. Everybody in a plane and in the airport are safe. Congratulations for captain Wrona who put this aircraft down!

      Polish squadron 303 destroyed itself almost 5% of nazi planes in Battle of England...

      a) Woman pilots are generally just as good as male pilots, and any woman flying for a commercial airline is a better pilot than you are. b) You're an idiot, there's no way the automation could perform an unusual maneuver like a gear-up landing. c) You'd already proven yourself an idiot with the woman comment.

      Oh, and d) It would take some truly, epically terrible flying to turn a gear-up landing into a total disaster. It's done the exact same way as a gear-down landing, except you hit harder, everyone gets bumped around a bit more, and you're not able to use the wheel brakes.
