Rapper Heavy D dies at 44

Dwight Arrington Myers, also known as rapper Heavy D, died Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles coroner’s office.

He was 44.

The emergency room staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center pronounced Myers dead "earlier this afternoon," L.A. Coroner Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said.

Myers gained fame in the late 1980s as part of the rap group Heavy D & the Boyz. Driven by the success of the group's first single, "The Overweight Lover's In the House," Heavy D & the Boyz gained national exposure and became a fixture on the hip-hop scene.

Later Myers would turn to acting. He was cast in bit parts in several sitcoms and movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The cause of death is yet to be determined but the coroner's office will begin an investigation.

For all of you idiots who think that Heavy was just some "overweight rapper who didn't exercise," you may want to look him up. Not only did he lose a significant amount of weight in the last few years, he was one of the most energetic people you would ever see–slim or thick. He had pneumonia. Ever heard of dying of complications from pneumonia? RIP Heavy! Your true fans will miss you brother. Prayers to his daughter and the rest of his fam!

For those that keep disrespecting a great person"Stop the sinceless noise " speculation and judgment of someone's life and death is truly Wack. He was one of the best rappers to pick up a mic.

It's amazing how people can make dumb comments about someone who was doing good things before they were even born. This generation is hell bent on looking for handouts, obesity, and Modern Warfare...pathetic!!!!
