After groundbreaking report, Iran's nuclear ambitions raise concerns

Officials from France, Israel and China all issued strong statements Wednesday in response to a new report that Iran may be developing nuclear weapons.

"The groundbreaking report just published by the International Atomic Energy Agency reinforces France's deep concern with regards to Iran's nuclear program," France's Foreign Ministry said. "France believes that it must make a breakthrough in strengthening diplomatic pressure on Iran. If Iran refuses to comply with the demands of the international community and denies any serious cooperation, we stand ready to adopt, with all the countries that will follow, sanctions of an unprecedented scale."

The IAEA report, released Tuesday, found no evidence that Iran has made a strategic decision to actually build a bomb. But its nuclear program is more ambitious and structured, and more progress has been made than previously known, the report said.

"The agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear program," the report said. "After assessing carefully and critically the extensive information available to it, the agency finds the information to be, overall, credible. The information indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device."

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slammed the report as a fabrication of facts aimed at satisfying U.S. allegations about Iran's nuclear program. Ahmadinejad continued his criticisms of the United States and other nuclear powers during a speech Wednesday.

It is time for Israel to do to Iran what it did to both the Osirak nuclear facility near Baghdad, Iraq in June 1981, and the al-Kibar nuclear facility in Syria in September 2007. It is time for Israel to blow Iran's nuclear reactors up and completely destroy them. Israel is more than capable of defending herself. For those of you that know very little about the Holy Land, Israel does have her very own stockpile of nukes; however, she will not use these WMD unless, God Forbid, the end is in sight. Only then, would Israel even consider using such a devastating weapon. If Iran wants to play hardball, let them. Israel has proven on too many occasions she can take on any enemy (i.e. – 1948 Independence War, 1967 Six Day War, 1973 Yom Kippur War, etc.)

And for anyone that think bringing Israeli's to the table with Iran will solve anything, or additional sanctions for that matter? YOU'RE CRAZY – There is NO ROOM for negotiations with a terrorist sponsoring regime. (Iran supports both Hamas and Hezbollah – two well known terrorist organizations – Read your facts !!)

Sanctions, sanctions, sanctions – How many sanctions are going to be imposed on Iran until we realize we are wasting our time? Sanctions do absolutely nothing to a nation that is supported by the Russian Federation. Sanctions will most certainly not curtail Iran's ambitions of developing nuclear technologies and/or weapons of mass destruction.

Did sanctions prevent al Qaeda from launching terrorist attacks on Spain and the UK? Duh?

Why let Israel take out Iran's nuke program?
    What are we? Chopped liver?
Also, I still advocate bringing back any Pahlavi we can find. The Shah was a fine friend to us.
America has made lots of mistakes: slavery, Prohibition, dumping the Shah...

Sorry folks, I never posted that idiotic comment above. We have no business whatsoever in Iran and we never had at any given time in the past. Back in 1953 we put the horrific Reza Pahlavi on the throne and the Iranians suffered badly as a result of this. Today I believe the Iranian side of this story as the right-wing thugs in Washington are no longer credible!!!

Seems quite apparent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to be promoted to "Adolf Hitler" status, but I really don't think that's gonna happen and you could take that to the bank...

When Hitler started ratting his saber in the 30's the world just sat by even after he started capturing country after country until it was to late. By then he had the strength to do what he did killing over 50 million people by the time it was all over. Iran is a terrorist nation and will surely sell nukes to other terrorist groups for the high dollar. The world going to wait until a nuke goes off in Europe or the US or Israel and then they " Wow we should of acted sooner"

@Donald Everson – Couldn't of said it better myself. You got it right on the money. The sad truth is, isn't that always the case? I'm quite certain the 9/11 tragedy could have been prevented as well if we would've acted sooner. The 1993 bombing @ the WTC complex should have been the wake-up call for us...

Idiots, the lot of you. You want to attack a country, resulting in millions of deaths and then pretend to actually be on the defensive side? The Islamic Republic can kiss my butt, but as far as I'm concerned fools like you two are even dumber than the Iranian regime. How godam stupid are yu to think that Iran will attack the entire western world with 1 crappy self-mde nuclear weapon?! By the time that rocket launches Iran will have been turned into a parking lot. And selling it to terrorists? LOL, and after the bomb goes off in let's say Paris, Iran's gonna say what...? "Uuuuuuhm that's not ours"?
Grow up for christ sake! You already fell for the iraqi WMDs, and you're gonna fall for this one as well? Wow, and I was against stereotyping but you americans actually live up to your reputation!

@ Shahin – And what are you? A pathetic Hamas or Hezbollah loyalist? Or maybe even an al Qaeda supporter? Sure, we fell for the falsehood of Iraq's WMD's, but ISRAEL SURE AS HECK DIDN'T WHEN THEY BLEW UP A CONFIRMED FRENCH BUILT NUCLEAR REACTOR IN 1981 NEAR BAGHDAD, IRAQ, NOW DID THEY???

These right-wing nutjobs like this Donald Everson above keep creeping out of the woodwork. Today our economy is on the skids because people like him have had their way for far too long. We need to vote these warmongers out of office and clean up the mess in Washington first!!!

      Wipe out terrorism:
I know it's difficult for your little peanut to comprehend this, but there are people in the world who are neither pro-terrorism nor pro-american (*SHOCK!*). Just because I hate your backstabbing foreign policy, including the occasional democracy overthrow and installing dictators to suit your needs, doesn't mean I love people who blow themselves up and kill innocent people. Get out of your shell and try putting things into perspective will ya? For a terrorist hater you seem to forget how the US actively supported and still supports many terrorist organizations.
If you want to refer to the past like that, why don't you mention the approval the White House gave to the Shah of Iran when he decided to build a nuclear weapon? Funny how you keep switching sides huh!

ask yourself how the middle-east problems started, maybe then you'll come to a better solution.
Hint:Colonization, installing dictators, inciting war, democracy overthrow, foundation and support of Israel, illegal invasions, funding terrorist organizations, etc.
You'll see for yourself that it's not always the middle-easterners who keep the conflicts going.

These warmongers here turn my stomach with their idiotic cries for war with Iran. People like these are truly a national disgrace and no wonder we're the most hated country in the world. Such ignorance should be outlawed!!!

Not me. If George had been paying attention, he would know by now that I am Canadian, so the "we're the most hated country" comment is completely meaningless in this context. And...

      Go Israel, go!

These right wing thugs sure are cute. They have nice hair and bulging muscles. I envy them, and their persuasive arguements. I'm sure their penises are bigger than mine. I wish I was more like them, which is why I keep stealing their screen names.

I also like to create the illusion that lots of people agree with my liberal crap, when in fact no one does.

Israel is capable of strategic deployment. They are the 2nd most dominant Air Power in the world after the US. They also have a very high level space and sattelite programme as well. Iran threatens to take Israel out, but fail to realize that Isreals IDF will counter with a massive blow to any country that threatens their existance. And Iran's leadership are reacting like chihuahuas..all bark and no bite.. Iran needs to just be cooperative and prove to the WORLD they are a peaceful nation and the notions of threats will subside.. Israel will always be and will always remain where it is. the Human race is precious and that needs to be seen without religious eyes.

Israel will have its say in this matter. They know they cannot afford for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, as they will be the first to experience it. I'm going to leave the rest of this open, so you can speculate on what I was going to say next.

You're right Irans leadership might not be crazy enough to do do it, but Israel will make their preemptive strike to lessen the odds they just might be.
