[Updated 10:18 p.m. ET] Army Staff Sgt. Put our troops in harms way and they may react in the wrong way. Expect it. !! Our troops should not have been there in the first place. This whole war situation was a useless venture. Killing and injuring multiple thousands, trillions of dollars spent and for what? What was the prize? Thanks George W. Bush for nothing. You will go down in history as the worst president ever in the history of the USA.

Freda. Whether or not they "Were not supposed to be there to begin with" is no reason for someone to murder people just because they are Afghan. It is inexcusable, regardless of the nature. If it were self defense, I could understand, but killing people and torturing them is not and excuse. Excuses are like a**holes, everyone has one, but most of them stink.

This is a sad case all around. First, our soldiers shouldn't even be over there. Yet, there is no excuse for his actions. He is representing our country when he puts on that uniform. He has disgraced our military.

There is no excuse for his actions. He was defective and had issues before he served.

I never know what to think in cases like this. To believe that this is the only case of its sort is naive.

We take kids teach them to follow the order ‘‘go kill those people over there,’’ and some lose the distinction between killing because someone up the chain of command told you to, and doing so on your own initiative. There is no morality in war.

I like how they made sure to say he led a "rogue" Kill squad. We have to make a distinction from the official kill squads.

"I compared it to keeping antlers off a deer I shot," Gibbs said, explaining why he cut fingers from the hand of a man he fatally shot.

    Disgraceful, nasty, rotten pos.

    He'll get what he deserves.

  12. Support our troops

This man does not deserve this, he fought to defend this country and we throw him away into the system for a war crime of small comparison to the horrors committed by the enemy, the only reason they were civilians was because they couldn't get to the mosque that day to pick up guns and orders! save our troops from disgrace by american politics!

As a member of the military for the past 16 years who has been deployed to these areas multiple times, I can assure you this is not a normal response for a Soldier. This is someone who has or had issues related to more than the hardships of war. This is someone who watched Hollywood movies, read war glorifying books, and worshiped at the alter of all things anti-Army value related. If you really believe this is what America's finest young men and women will become just because of some exposure to other cultures and austerities you are living in a dillusion. The American millitary did not make this guy do these things, this was the product of his social devience to begin with.

US military, once again winning hearts and minds.

Or at least hearts and brains, cut out of their warm, dead corpses.

Why is no one facing charges for the government using phosphorus in the attack of Falluja Iraq, in November of 2008? Recent you tube videos from former Iraq veterans who were THERE, posted footage of the attack before and after, and admitted the government did indeed use BANNED chemical weapons against men , women , and children. If true this is disgusting and ALL responsible should face charges, from BUSH on down to the field commanders.
