Judge taped whipping daughter is suspended

Judge William Adams, who made national headlines after the release of a 2004 video of him beating his then-teenage daughter, has been suspended by the Texas Supreme Court.

The reason for the action was not mentioned in an order of suspension that was made public Tuesday.

Adams, a court-at-law judge in Aransas County, was roundly criticized when his now-adult daughter posted online a video of him beating her with a belt when she was 16.

The video also showed the judge cursing and berating Hillary Adams.

Adams was punishing the girl for using the Internet "to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time," Hillary Adams wrote on the web posting.

Wonder if any acting on her part occurred? She knew she was being taped, and set up a camera. She got caught stealing, hence the punishment. Her mother also participated. Why not accuse her also? SO, the Judge is convicted in the public opinion, one sided story. Why did she wait so long? Doesn't look or sound sick to me. She was/is being financially cut off prior to this release soooo many years later. Was she blackmailing him? I question her motives-big time !!!!! Why hasn't he spoken out ? I'd like to hear his side. She's a spoiled brat-easy to see.

Well, she had to have been beat enough to know what was coming, and no matter what the reasons are, there is no reason for him to act as he did taunting and cursing at her while she was being beaten. It doesn't matter what her reasons for posting it were either, this is something that actually happened and appears to have happened on a regular basis, and she didn't force him to be a sadistic abuser. He has spoken out, just saying he did nothing wrong, so take that for what it is worth as he hasn't said anything more, and no one is keeping his mouth shut. As to why she took so long a couple things come to mind, first is she was scared of him (I would be to), her father was an abuser and a person who was powerful in society. Even if she overcame her fear at the time and posted it, it's worth remembering there was no equivalent to youtube 7 years ago to upload videos to get widespread scrutiny.

Ignoring his motives, a guy who sees nothing wrong with taunting and cursing a teenager while beating her as badly as we have viewed in the video has no business being a family judge for cases that would resemble this, because if he finds that this is fine, he won't view this as treading the line between discipline and abuse, and he would view this line as dangerously more so towards abuse, regardless of what the laws that he is suppose to uphold says.
