The Occupy movement is taking on the biggest retail day of the season, calling on protesters to occupy major retailers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
"OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY by occupying/boycotting large chain stores and publicly traded retail" is the message posted on the website stopblackfriday.com.
The movement contends that 1% of the country is making money at the expense of the other 99%.
"The credit cards the 99% overcharge will allow the 1% to enrich themselves gluttonously on the backs of hardworking people who simply want to provide a memorable time for their families," the website says.
"So just imagine what would happen to the 1% if the 99% did not spend on Black Friday."
The site asks protesters to target only "publicly traded large businesses" and support small businesses "that serve our local communities."
The site lists Abercrombie & Fitch, Amazon.com, AT&T Wireless, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Office Max, Toys "R" Us, Verizon Wireless and Wal-Mart as businesses that should be boycotted or occupied.
"We are NOT anti-capitalist, just anti-crapitalist," the site says.

let's standup, united and teardown the wide barrier gap between EEO and pay!
Sure...lol. How about you start your own company and hire a bunch of people and pay everyone the same.
Hmm, lets see, should I go get a seasonal job to help me and the economy or stop the other 99% from getting a discount item on the day they can afford it? Yup lets act like dbags and go after the wrong target and hurt the economy more. You've lost your way little occupiers. Try stopping me and we'll both be on the news. You'll be the bloody ones and I'll be the guy with the machine gun that they'll write a song about.
Let me get this straight: The OWS kiddies intend to interfere with the Christmas shopping of their "fellow 99%-ers" in the hopes of somehow annoying the "1%-ers," somehow completely oblivious to the low-level employees whose jobs will be put into jeopardy and the overall bad-karma generated amidst the rest of the population.
....No wonder the twits can't get a job....
They are not smarter than a fifth grader...
These occupy people are idiots. They are protesting against the very thing that they want. JOBS!!! Who do you think is going to provide the jobs if it isn't businesses. Those that sit around complaining and not working are just more of a strain on the economy. Wake up!! Go back to school and learn something about economics.

If I take my money and spend it locally I am creating jobs in my own community.
John spews the myth of "small local businesses" that the OWSers like to toss out as cover for their Marxist nonsense.
In John's world, we should all pay more for basic products, just because they're sold by "small local merchants." Why wipe with toilet paper that's $5 at Walmart, when you can pay $8 for the same TP from a "small local merchant"? Or maybe we'll really get lucky, and we can spend $12 for a roll of artisanal bum-wipe from a "small local craftsperson"?
The OWSers are in love with the myth of the genial old local shopkeeper and the kindly local craftsman who just give their products away 'cause, golly, it's so darn much fun to do what you love.
The OWSers never explain, just as the Marxists in the Soviet Union could never explain, just who is going to be cleaning the sewers in their brave new world.
These people are actually interfering with the lives of 100% of the population. Gift giving during holiday seasons has long been a part of traditions and customs of many societies around the world. Within these societies, the "99%" apparently reside. Now this group is trying to eliminate this tradition that so many of their so called "followers" take part in. And what is wrong with buying at big box stores such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Amazon.com, AT&T Wireless, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Office Max, Toys "R" Us, Verizon Wireless or Wal-Mart? Most of these stores offer the same product as small local businesses, but usually at a lower cost to the consumer. So that means that these stores are actually helping to keep money in the pockets of the 99%. And for those stores that charge more for items, they are usually specialty items that cannot be purchased elsewhere. Maybe it is because these stores don't offer a large enough selection of hacky sacks, camping gear, or dread-lock wax? The group that labels themselves "the 99%" are bigger hypocrites than the politicians and business elite that they label with the same term. These people are like a bad cold that just won't go away, and their nagging cough is enough to make all of us sick.
No these companies actually put people out of work. You have to look at the big picture. They also destroy communities and evade taxes by the use of overseas bank accounts.
Dogs that bark all night get a big bowl of antifreeze to drink.
Just sayin'...
Is that what Capitalists do poison things they dont like while pretending to be an American? You need help
Hmmm... lets see. Protest on public property = free speech. Disrupting business activities on private property = CRIME. There is no right to free speech on private property – you are there with the implicit permission of the owner and can be removed the same way. It will be amusing to watch the police response.
I may be wrong, but I'm assuming the 1% don't bother so much with the black Friday sales, nor do they work at the stores that have them.
Get a haircut and get a job.
Hang on a minute while I finish burning my draft card.
This people have donations of $400,000 and they are trying to create chaos all over the nation. I am sick and tired of people that think they deserve everything without having to work for it. Bunch of ignorants spending our tax dollars.
As I have said you can hear the death rattle of OWS. Glad its technically over. Such a joke.
These are nothing more than modern day hippies and young adults that have way to much time on their hands and can't put the effort in to OCCUPYING A JOB! Stop asking for a hand out. If a hand out is what you want go join the inner city race and apply for your benefits that my job and taxes already pay for. There is your handout. Stop complaining about big buisness when this is the promis land and those that made the buisness had a dream and idea, worked for it and made it! Do the same for yourself. You have the OPPORTUNITY so make the most of it or fail! You remind me a little kids complaining to your parents. WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE. I'm going to go start a cheese company and make millions off your Wine"ing"!
Shoppers, be sure to bring your pepper spray and hit them with it if they obstruct your passage into a store.
This is ridiculous. That's protest the companies that actually hire people. I understand protesting Wall Street and banks but this is stupid.
just think how many jobs you would create if you bought locally instead of at big box stores.
While Black Friday Fanatics seem to enjoy the day (don't know why), I think we all should boycott retailers that have decided to open on Thanksgiving or open at midnight on BF. What an insane way to destroy their employees holiday and family traditions. People won't spend a penny more just because they can spend it earlier. Corporate greed over people's lives. Shame on you.
Please get in my way rioters, I want to be on TV.
Oh so this is a Riot now? I think its a Riot the day after Thanksgiving with GREEDY people most of them poor and ignorant fight and scratch to get a flat screen TV. Regardless it will be an interesting day to watch the TV News and Youtube.
