The Occupy movement is taking on the biggest retail day of the season, calling on protesters to occupy major retailers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
"OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY by occupying/boycotting large chain stores and publicly traded retail" is the message posted on the website stopblackfriday.com.
The movement contends that 1% of the country is making money at the expense of the other 99%.
"The credit cards the 99% overcharge will allow the 1% to enrich themselves gluttonously on the backs of hardworking people who simply want to provide a memorable time for their families," the website says.
"So just imagine what would happen to the 1% if the 99% did not spend on Black Friday."
The site asks protesters to target only "publicly traded large businesses" and support small businesses "that serve our local communities."
The site lists Abercrombie & Fitch, Amazon.com, AT&T Wireless, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Office Max, Toys "R" Us, Verizon Wireless and Wal-Mart as businesses that should be boycotted or occupied.
"We are NOT anti-capitalist, just anti-crapitalist," the site says.

I stand with the 100%.
I was all for their freedom of speech and the right to voice their opinion but once they start imposing their beliefs on me, FK THAT. So let me understand something OWS bitc*hes becasue you're all out of work, you want the rest of us there too? Well that's what happens when you start impeding on other businesses.
When you take away someone's use of their property you must have an overriding issue. The retailers have little or nothing to do with the corruption in DC and Wall Street. What a bunch of self righteous people OWS are. Get a shave, get a shower and start looking for work and stop putting your fellow Americans out of a job. Shame on you.

Seriously? I'll agree that the 1% walks all over the rest of us to acquire wealth, but take some responsibility for your own bad spending habits. They aren't forcing you to overcharge your credit cards. People are just whipping themselves into a frenzy over nothing. You are spending money that you don't have, to buy sh!t you don't need.
Dummies!
Ok, I understand the Occupy movement and even agree with what *some* of the people are protesting. But Occupy Macy's? The Gap? I'm sorry, but if you overspend your credit card, it's your own dang fault. If you don't have the money, you don't spend it, end of story! This is coming from someone paying off over $10K in credit card debt. I know that it was my own mistake and I would never expect anyone else to take care of it for me and I would never blame my own stupid decisions on somebody else.
we shouldnt waste our money on crap anyway.
This just shows the stupidity of this "movement". They are complaining about credit card fees? Pay with cash. Nobody is forcing anyone to spend money. Everyone should live within their means. If you don't want the banks making fees off your credit card don't use them. If their "occupy" strategy is to reduce holiday spending such that people live within their means that's great! I support it. But that message should be directed at those that choose to overspend, not retailers who have a right to OFFER products for sale. In other words the point of Occupy Black Friday is to tell the 99% that they can not manage their money! To somehow make a convoluted argument that the 1% will be hurt is ridiculous It will affect short term job creation at retailers, will likely result in store closures and the lay off of those employees, most of whom are not in the 1%. Story should be that the 99% should spend within their means – END OF STORY! Or at least "Buy American". These fools missed the point...AGAIN.
How about Occupying a job fair!? These people really need to get a life and a job and stop their complaining. There are jobs out there, but these people think that they are too good to take them. They want to start at the top...NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!! You need to EARN IT!!
Brilliant!
The protesters will be eaten alive by the shopping crowds.
Occupy a shower, a haircut, and a job, you damn hippies!!!
Don't you have some bagging or some birthing you need to be doing somewhere?
The Occupiers are wasting their time at the places they are tring to get attention at. The place they need to be is Capital Hill where it all begins. The do nothing congress on down.
thank you. someone who gets it.
OWS. Congress is not meeting at Macy's this month.
does this people who are protesting are actually less than 1 % but call themselves 99% LOL. These people need to arrested and if need arises states / cities should enforce army reserves to uproot these people. This protest is getting stupid by the day
You guys should go hang out at BofA's Concord (California) Technology center. Beautiful lush grass for your tents, 4 buildings to block out the elements, onsite cafe and coffee distributers, bathrooms in each lobby of each building. You would enjoy the visit !! Occupy BofA Baby!
One guy with about 16 followers has a website and CNN decides to cover like it's a movement?! The last thing the occupy movement wants to do is anger the public and diffuse its message with a stupid stunt like this. Research, CNN. Ever heard of it?
Well, there must be a link back to the OWS site with the ridiculous '13 demands' that are laughable.
OWS would probably actually have support of 99% of Americans (which anyone with a shred of common sense knows they don't ) if they took their message to WASHINGTON DC where laws are made (or not made) that regulate (or don't regulate) Wall Street, Banks, Corporations and everything in between. Of course since they really think Obama is on their side (laughable) they stick with a diluted message and take that message everywhere and anywhere but where it belongs (Washington DC and/or your Reps local offices)
