Occupy targets retailers on Black Friday
The Occupy movement is taking on the biggest retail day of the season, calling on protesters to occupy major retailers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
"OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY by occupying/boycotting large chain stores and publicly traded retail" is the message posted on the website stopblackfriday.com.
The movement contends that 1% of the country is making money at the expense of the other 99%.
"The credit cards the 99% overcharge will allow the 1% to enrich themselves gluttonously on the backs of hardworking people who simply want to provide a memorable time for their families," the website says.
"So just imagine what would happen to the 1% if the 99% did not spend on Black Friday."
The site asks protesters to target only "publicly traded large businesses" and support small businesses "that serve our local communities."
The site lists Abercrombie & Fitch, Amazon.com, AT&T Wireless, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Office Max, Toys "R" Us, Verizon Wireless and Wal-Mart as businesses that should be boycotted or occupied.
"We are NOT anti-capitalist, just anti-crapitalist," the site says.

I wish I was typing a post that would be the answer to the countries problem instead all I want to share is this...About 12 years ago I went to my first Black Friday Sale where I seen 2ft carebears fly though the air & the last few almost tore to pieces as several women yelled at each other as they hung on desperately to the bears. I think a crazed parent fearing the look of disappointment on their childs face Christmas morning is far scarier than the pepper spray & tear gas. I'm just saying.
I am so tired of these Occupy fools calling themselves the 99%. They do not represent me or anyone I know. They are the idots blocking the sidewalk in front of the CBOT as I try to hustle through so I can make a living. They need to occupy a desk and not the sidewalk. The major job boards (CB and Monster) of full of jobs if they want one. They seem to be protesting in hopes of getting a bigger free handout than they are already receiving.
These people need to be round up and terminated. We cannot afford to let them breed.

First of all I graduated a year ago. So I have yet to obtain a geology job. So you are telling me to either A) take a crap job for crap pay or B) Go back to school and go further in debt which you people say is inevitable.

Well, that's it for me. No more support for the OWS group. This is just plain stupid and will hurt so many working people. This group is just turning out to be unemployed children (or those acting like children) looking for something to do instead of something productive.

No biggie for me.....I haven't been able to afford Christmas presents for years. I live from paycheck to paycheck and even then get behind on a bill or two. The cost of living goes up more than 6% per year, but my employer only pays about 3% every two years. They used to give out bonuses every year, but that only applies to senior management now. Our family gave up on Christmas presents about 8 years ago. We refuse to go into deep debt just for the sake of giving out presents.
Hear, hear! Thank you, sir. That's what I've been saying, too. I'd love to get presents for everyone, can't afford it, not going into debt. My family and friends enjoy spending time together much more than they enjoy "stuff" anyway.

Man, their deals just look so good. It will be a little painful, but I agree and will not be doing any further major retailer shopping this year. Our voice is easily ignored but our dollars will be missed. Retailers must pay a livable wage and must stop unfair mass hire / mass fire practices in "Right to Work States".
My guess is that these "victims of corporate America" don't have much to spend anyway. Go ahead and live in your squalor while the rest of us who went to school and training and have jobs continue to celebrate the Holidays with our families. Oh, yeah, we also donate to charities that many of you, I presume, abuse.
