Occupy targets retailers on Black Friday
The Occupy movement is taking on the biggest retail day of the season, calling on protesters to occupy major retailers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
"OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY by occupying/boycotting large chain stores and publicly traded retail" is the message posted on the website stopblackfriday.com.
The movement contends that 1% of the country is making money at the expense of the other 99%.
"The credit cards the 99% overcharge will allow the 1% to enrich themselves gluttonously on the backs of hardworking people who simply want to provide a memorable time for their families," the website says.
"So just imagine what would happen to the 1% if the 99% did not spend on Black Friday."
The site asks protesters to target only "publicly traded large businesses" and support small businesses "that serve our local communities."
The site lists Abercrombie & Fitch, Amazon.com, AT&T Wireless, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, The Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Office Max, Toys "R" Us, Verizon Wireless and Wal-Mart as businesses that should be boycotted or occupied.
"We are NOT anti-capitalist, just anti-crapitalist," the site says.

So I would be curious to see what these occupiers put on their resume during this period of "unemployment".
Why is there a picture of 12 year old kids shopping here? Seriously why not put a picture of the dancing baby frog up here for all the relevance it has to the article.
"just imagine what would to the 1% if the 99% didn't shop on black friday?" hmmmm lets think about that.. first off OWS represents 1% of the public but putting that aside as well as putting aside all the things you don't know about the economy.... in simple terms if no one shops then stores lay off employees, when products don't sell then maunfacturers lay off employees, when all those that get laid off as a result of no shopping stop buying things then even more people get laid off.... you starting to see how this system works?
Black Friday highlights American idiocy. Who will be trampled to death this year when the doors open and the herds of morons, who are already in credit card debt up to their eyeballs, stampede into retail stores bleating like sheep? Materialism run amok has transformed our democracy into a system that is destroying itself. It doesn't matter how much consumers spend on black Friday because the richest 1% and the geniuses in the government are destroying the economy. The re-distribution of wealth has already happened and some Americans are content to fight over the scraps left behind by spending money they don't have.
Yes black friday is stupid, it's mostly people spending money they don't have on crap they don't need that can be found online for just as cheap any day of the year without the hassle.
That said, it's none of your or my business who shops when and where. If someone wants to stand in line at 4am to get a deal on a crappy TV or whatever stupid toy is hot this year, that's their right so get the hell out of the way.
I'm bringing my camera to Target in Harlem and selling pay per view tickets to the fight of the decade. My money is on the shoppers. I'll stop selling tickets just short of being in the 1%. I'll bet most of the bargain hunters will be carrying more than peper spray. Game on.

Hey OWS kids, here's a dare for you. Occupy an Apple Store. That's right, if you're really AGAINST greed, corporate corruption, price gouging, outsourcing 100% of production AWAY from US jobs, offer no discounts, and treating the customer like absolute @#$%, then I DARE you to stand up again the absolute worst offender in all of those categories: Apple. But wait...(sniff sniff) you LIKE Apple gadgets, don't you? You love your iphone. They couldn't POSSIBLY be bad guys too, right? Newsflash morons, Apple makes Bank of America look like a charity. Boycott hem, throw you iphone in the East river NOW, or you're all complete hypocrites–as if we there was any credibility in the movement to begin with. Yeah, and something tells me you won't do it, will you? Nope thought not.

Work hard and enjoy your wealth. Everyone on here with an opinion either owns a computer of has access to one. Use your minds instead of your mouths and figure out a way to make money with the computer. Or go sit in a park and demand something you haven't earned. This is the greatest country in the world because you don't have to work under fascist or communistic rule. An great idea can be worth far more than a job.

I think it is a great iidea. Large corporations are solely focused on profit. No shopping thiis Christmas at the large chain retailers – shop at local small businesses and help your LOCAL economy. Show these large corporations we do have power – it's called using the power of where we spend our money. Spend it with your local small business – gift certificates and visit gift shops or bike shops or local restaurants. Stand up for your neighbors trying to run a successful business. Keep your money in your town.

Hey, sure give it a shot. All I can say is I worked retail and Black Friday back in the day. How can I explain this...you know those nature films where the tigers pick out the weakest zebra and in about 15 seconds the zebra no longer resembles an animal?

OWS children should grow up, quit whining, get a job doing something productive. CNN should stop news pushing this thing. They (CNN) have a clear agenda, and their coverage of the OWS gang has propogated the so-called movement. What a farce of a news organization.
