Gadhafi son tried to go secretly to Mexico

Saadi Gadhafi, a son of the deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, tried to travel secretly to Mexico with false documents, Mexico's interior minister said Wednesday.

Four people have been implicated in the plot - a Canadian, a Dane and a two Mexicans, said the minister, Alejandro Poire.

The arrests of the plotters were made in November and announced Wednesday.

"With these actions, the federal government contributes actively to a safe North America," said Alejandra Sota, a government spokeswoman.

The plan was to provide false documents claiming Mexican nationality for Saadi Gadhafi and his family, and to purchase a number of properties in Mexico that would be used as safe houses, Poire said.

    Sorry now he didnt even get close to the states thank god. He would of created his own cartell through blackmale or something. Thats the world efort working together for once it is a good feeling knowing that this can happen in this world today, we do not need someone with such a history on our boarders
    . Someone did there job, but they should of brought him here and tried him . And sent him back to libya to be tried again by his own people.

    See that is a perfect example of why we need our borders shut down!shoot not just to the south either in fact could probably slip through the north heck I do it all the time across detroit river!

    It's pretty dumb to go to a "posh resort." If he'd just gone to an ordinary hotel or something, nobody would have even noticed him.

      @james m: Doesn't sound like he made it to mexico, much less a posh hotel.. The people trying to arrange it got arrested.

      And gung, sounds more like an example of why the borders are plenty secure already. The mexicans are better at border security than we are...

      I'm sure he was just trying to find a quiet place to spend the rest of his days fading into oblivion. I'm pretty confident, even among libyan-americans, he's a pariah.
