[Updated at 2:34 p.m. ET] Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested Wednesday on additional child rape charges, which raise the number of alleged victims from eight to 10 people, the Pennsylvania attorney general's office said.
The new charges include four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, involving two new alleged victims who were boys at the time of the alleged encounters.
Sandusky, who maintains his innocence, faces a preliminary hearing on December 13 at 8:30 a.m.
"Today's criminal charges were recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury, based on evidence and testimony that was received following the initial arrest of Sandusky on November 5," Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said.
The new alleged victims - identified as Victim 9 and Victim 10 - encountered Sandusky at The Second Mile charity, a nonprofit organization he founded for underprivileged children.
Victim 9 was between 11 and 12 years old when he met the former coach around 2004, who allegedly gave him gifts and money and took the boy to university football games, according to the statement.
Sandusky allegedly met Victim 10 in 1997 after a counselor recommended the boy attend the charity "because of difficulties in his home life."
A grand jury report made public last month detailed 40 charges against the former coach in a child sex abuse scandal that, at the time, involved eight alleged victims, spanning 15 years.
A look at the grand jury report
The eight alleged victims identified in that report, like the two new accusers, first encountered Sandusky through the Second Mile, the attorney general's office said.
"As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of 'grooming' victims," Kelly said. "Beginning with outings to football games and gifts, they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults."

Please, PLEASE stop showing this man's ugly face, or at least shrink the photo size down. Some of us read news over lunch, you know. Seeing him makes it hard to keep lunch down.

If you are hoping to make a living at comedy, or trolling, don't quit your day job Daniel.
I don't understand the time frames that elapse between initial reports and additional cases. Why is it there are always "additional reports" trickling in months or years later? You would think all reports would be made immediately after the initial reports
It can take a LONG time for someone to overcome the fear and shame of abuse.
Actually, one should expect delays for additional cases to come forward. Some victims are still hesitant to come forward publically, taking time to do so. Adding more charges can still occur ... as more of his victims gain the courage to come forward.
in fact many of the new accusers were prompted by the fact that a) someother people came forward, and B) his disgusting denying interviews with the press that enraged them and pushed them forward
it can't be he said i was special
Whatever..they will just release him on a few hundred bucks bail like they did the last time so he can be free to offend again.
I have no idea how anyone can make the assumption that these kids are trying to "cash" in on this. How are any of the kids cashing in? There will be no settlement, they arn't looking for money. They are looking for justice and they deserve justice. No child should be put in a situation at such a young age where they are showering with an older man. He is a pedofile and deserves every year of jail time he gets and every single agony he goes through while he is there. Jerry Sandusky is a disturbing individual and the saddest part is there seems to be some kind of child molestation culture of older men to younger boys in the US. It is sick, disgusting and most of criminal.
I agree with you, but I am sure there are lawyers out there foaming at the mouth for a chance to sue Penn State, not Sandusky.
While I in no way believe these children are doing this to "cash in", you can be certain that regardless of whether Mr. Sandusky is found criminally liable, his victims will go after him for money in civil court as well. Getting over abuse like this, if even possible, will take years of therapy. His victims have every right to go after him for pain and suffering so they can afford appropriate treatment. So while they may not be "cashing in", it is likely he will be paying damages to his victims later on.
Now they just have to make sure the Penn State judges don't let him out again on bail.....
What is wrong with this guy. "Horsing around"? Who is he kidding. He's going to go to prison and get the favor he did to all those boys returned 10 fold.

Doubtful, he will probably receive special treatment and be secluded from the rest of the prisoners with his own TV and activity time.
They ought to be showing a picture of the of his head.
Sandusky will probably kill himself within the next 2 weeks.
We can only hope!!
Here's hoping.
no he won't because he doesn't think he did anything wrong
From your lips to God's ears Bryce....
A long song for Bobby Sandusky:
"...Here I go again on my own....
...being a Republican on the roam...
...every little kid is my goal...
...I'll be at the next Republican ball..."
I dont believe he should be allowed out on bail this time. Who knows how many more victims are out there, or potentially more. And even if all those comming forward now were even victims. In any case even l is l to many. Let him take his meds in jail!!
Agreed, he should be locked away and GenPop until his trail like all the other criminals. What makes him so special?
Don't worry, he'll get his when it gets to prison. I hope they beat him down hard. That is justice not spending 100 million dollars to find out if what he did is what he did. Hopefully his life will be short once he gets there. PSU better have soem deep pockets. They new and did nothing which just encouraged this behavior on there site.
Wow this Sandusky fella is famous. I wonder if they will name a sandwich after him at his local Deli?
It will be a type of hotdog.
please remove the feature photo. seeing his face that large looking right in my eyes brought tears. what a piece of filthy sub-humanity.
