Murder charges filed in 2008 slayings of Oklahoma girls

A man in custody for a different case has been charged first-degree murder in connection with the 2008 shooting deaths of two Oklahoma girls, Okfuskee County authorities said in a news conference Friday afternoon.

Kevin Sweat, 25, had been charged with murder in the deaths of Skyla Jade Whitaker, 11 and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, who were found shot to death on a rural dirt road in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, in June 2008.

Sweat was already behind bars in Seminole County (Oklahoma) Jail in his girlfriend's death when the new charges were filed, according to the state investigative bureau director.

Good! I remember this case, so sad. And that Westboro group was going to protest. They decided against it, thankfully... I think they knew they'd be gunned down at that one.

This story's really not a joking matter, but If Satan can't even figure out who it's talking to, I guess we don't have a whole lot to worry about.

It's about time! I could not forget about these girls, and I am so glad the investigators didn't either. May their families find justice and peace.

No way to get justice, I'll settle for revenge and deterrent. He should be impelled and posted up for all to see his bulging eyes.

A little more detail would be nice; but at least *someone* has been charged.
I'm sure more detail will be forthcoming.

    This just seems so senseless.
I have often wondered why this happened...and who would be sick enough to do this...

Local news is reporting that he is already in jail for shooting his girlfriend. They traced the gun used in the girls' killing to him because he sold the gun a a gun show. Police are offering a reward to the person that turns the gun in. There, a little more info for you all.
