Video surfaces of American who vanished in Iran
Robert Levinson, a retired FBI agent who went missing in Iran nearly five years ago, appeared in a video that his family posted online Friday.
His wife, Christine Levinson, told CNN that the family received the video "a little more than a year ago."
In the video, Robert Levinson, a Florida man who disappeared in Iran in March 2007, said he was not in very good health and was running out of diabetes medication.

Private contracter. But that still doesn't explain why he's there.
Investigating what ? And and on whose say so? Did the Iranians ask for help?
The full story link has more details. He was working as a PI looking into cigarette smuggling in the area. What I think is more of a question is WHY did he take a case that would send him to Iran? I don't care what they pay me, no way would I do that.

Alot of people who retire from the FBI go onto work for the CIA covertly, this guy was likely kidnapped by Iran's revolutionary guard. Most spies are executed, and I am sure the state dept has wagered for this guys release and failed. Sucks for him, I have no remorse for rogue intel agents vanishing in hostile lands. You make your own bed and eventually you lay in it.

Simple .. he was there doing what hypocrites love to do: making money, handing out favors and thinking that he and all his friends are above all laws in every country just like France and others.... like the Italian American facebook student-

This story is very light on info! Why did the family wait over a year to say the man isn't really missing? What is he doing there? Is he undercover or conducting his own investigation? It would be nice to get some more info about this case!!
One thing we have learned about the IRG and OC is from Simply Jack our Iranian friend south of the border. It would appear that they need help at least when it comes to contacting the right people. Why would Mexico be any different to the North Caucasus and Russian OC.
