Man found guilty in murder of UNC student body president
A jury has found a man guilty in the 2008 murder of  University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president Eve Carson.
Laurence Alvin Lovette Jr. was found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree armed robbery, felonious larceny, and felonious possession of stolen goods.
An autopsy report showed that Carson, an honors student, had multiple gunshot wounds when she was found lying on a Chapel Hill street. The autopsy report listed six gunshot wounds but said two of the wounds were probably from the same bullet.
Court documents released in the North Carolina case said Carson was taken from her apartment and forced to provide her abductors with ATM access to her bank account before she was shot to death in the early hours of March 5.
A grand jury indicted Demario James Atwater on October 27, 2009 on federal charges of carjacking resulting in death, carrying and using firearms in relation to carjacking, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possessing a short-barreled shotgun not properly registered to him. He also faces state first-degree murder charges in Orange County, North Carolina, along with Lovette.
The informant said the two men drove Carson to an ATM, obtained her PIN from her and then shot her. The witness told police that Atwater said the two got about $1,400 from Carson's account. Bank records show that was approximately the amount taken from the account over a two-day period, the documents said.
Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall has said he also will seek the death penalty against Atwater. Authorities cannot seek the death penalty against Lovette because he was 17 at the time of the slaying.
The Athens, Georgia, native was a pre-medicine student double-majoring in political science and biology. She was a recipient of the university's prestigious Morehead Scholarship and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, according to UNC.

This "news" outlet, just like the others, will never mention the fact that the victim was white and the murderers were black.

I deep down inside think that these two low life's only had $$ signs in their eyes when this happened. But I can see the OP's frustration, that if the tables were turned, it would AUTOMATICALLY have been turned into a racial issue by the MSM, ESPECIALLY CNN! Anybody who thinks only whites or a certain group of people is racist is super ignorant. I've seen the hatred and bigotry that man is capable of, and it comes in all creeds, colors, shapes, and sizes.

Although abhorrent, the race of the victim is irrelevant unless there was evidence presented that she was chosen specifically *because* of her race.

When you add up the stats that most race crime is black on white crime and that blacks commit 80% of violent crime in america, all of a sudden race isn't too irrelevant is it libby?
This crime was first reported as an act of gang violence in which the gang members were instructed to kill someone with blonde hair to gain initiation into the gang. It's not clear if that theory was discredited or if it just wasn't reported, but that is how this murder was initially reported, and perhaps the reason behind John's comments.
to add to Clairifying...by targeting a blonde person means someone white. What black person is going to have blonde hair except those black ladies who look ridiculous wearing blonde wigs.
At the time the authorities were pulling at straws, it was debated whether or not there was a direct link to gangs. The reason this was stated was simply due to the fact he was wearing an Astros hat in footage and this had previously been seen/associated with the "Hoover Crips". This individual is a killer who killed another man days or weeks earlier and someone who has no respect for life. I lived in the area at this time and there is no feeling like the one you have when you don’t feel safe in your town. Everyone including myself was thinking there had to be more to the story, but it was just a senseless act of violence!!!

She was pre-med. Wouldn't it be karma if she would have found the cure for whatever disease it is that ultimately kills this rat, had he not killed her first? Because we're going to be feeding, clothing, providing free medical care, free legal assistance, free college, etc., for this creature for the rest of his life.

Her accomplishments- amazing. Her life taken for some stupid sum of money. There really are no words to describe
the murderers (not enough adjectives that haven't been diluted). The Murderers and the victim-as opposite as human

Why do some feel that things that happen such as this have to be racial? Sure the numbers do not lie when it comes to how crime propogates and therefore our country is in desperate need of education, care, concern, and true understanding of why these numbers are what they are. I am just so sick and tired of this bigotry, hatefulness, and just plain meaness towards another. We are all human beings no matter what creed, religion, race, or beliefs that we have. I just find it utterly ridiculous that some always try to find a reason for anothers twisted, sociaopathic, and/or mentally disturbed behavior and the number one reason these people choose is race. Stop the madness and spread love, understanding, and friendship.
