2011: In memoriam

As 2011 draws to a close, we’d like to look back at some of the notable people who died this year. These videos highlight their achievements and honor their legacies.

Screen siren – Elizabeth Taylor is remembered not only as a strikingly beautiful Academy Award-winning actress, but also as a compassionate and devoted advocate for HIV/AIDS research.

Soulful songbird – Amy Winehouse enchanted many of us with her sultry voice and modern style of music. The Grammy Award-winning singer had notoriously battled substance abuse issues for years.

The visionary – Pioneer, innovator, creative genius - these are words peers used to describe iconic Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs. Many first got word of his passing on one of the devices he helped create and popularize.

Witty journalist – Legendary commentator Andy Rooney was known for his dry wit and profound intelligence to audiences all over the globe. Rooney’s last televised commentary aired on “60 Minutes” on October 2, 2011.  He died about one month after leaving the show at age 92.

More notable faces – CNN looks back at some of the notable people who died in 2011.

Carol, you seem to be a smart person. Smart enough good leadership.

You voted for a great leader.

Hee is how well he has lead:

      – highest unemployment on decades

      – most under valued homes

      – bowing down to world dictators and terrorists

      – a failed economy

      – divided country

      – praising unions while putting down job creators

      – lowering our countries greatness in the world

      – walking away from our allies

      Great Leadership!

If so, how do define poor lewdwrship?

Lessee....one of the most prolific and well-loved actresses of the 20th Century; a man who revolutionized computing and the way we communicate; a brilliant reporter whose reflections of life are legendary listening; and....a drug using wanna-be, who had one or two 'hits' before snuffing herself out with drugs and alcohol. Wow, CNN...really? Grouping Amy Winehouse with these noteworthy and IMPORTANT people was in POOR taste and decision.

Of the main four, three at least lived a reasonably long life. I'm not a Winehouse fan, but it's still sad how much potential was lost to addiction.

    • Liberals need to shut the $%^&( Up !

How dare you! Sarah Palin is a patriot. She may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but she deserves to be treated with respect. Which is more than I can say about the Liberalistic crap coming out of this blog. PLEASE. if you want higher taxes, abortion, illegal aliens, terrorists, a nuclear Iran, Socialist Healthcare, 10% unemployment, an exhausted Social Security system, and a Congress that has Senators worth 2.3 million per person and a Representative worth 750 million, keep right on being a Liberal.

10% unemployment, that would be a miracle for my state. We are above 15% in most cities. But, you know – their massiah can hold back the tides rising due to global warming, feed the union thugs with hard earned tax payer money, bow down before dictators, and best of all – takes a Hawaii vacation while our country slows dies from leadership stravation.

    Breath Through Your Noses Ladies.

This article concerns those who passed away while
leaving behind a rich and fulfilling legacy.

Sadly something that all current politicians will not
have the luxury of ever doing before they reach
    their promised land.

Thanks, we needed a laugh. Two parts

1 – celeb's left t all behind – of course, you come into the world with nothing, and you leave the same way.

2 – and politians won't contribute anything to our future, how true. They go into government poor and leave wealthy. Better off than you or I.

Keep posting. We need to see the lighter side off life the way you see it!

      Thanks : )
