Verizon Wireless said it will scrap a proposed $2 fee for one-time online or telephone payments, citing "customer feedback."
The fee, which Verizon said would have been a "convenience charge"Â for customers who make one-time bill payments using a debit or credit card, either online or by telephone, was set to go into effect on January 15.
Verizon had said the fee was designed to "address costs incurred by us for only those customers who choose to make single bill payments."
The plan still would have allowed customers to enroll in a service that would debit their bank accounts or charge their credit cards on a recurring basis for free. Customers also could have avoided the fee by paying at a Verizon store or mailing checks to the company.

They will just find another more 'silent' way of collecting the $2!
They'll most likely raise their rates.
Well, then they can just say "Goodbye" to this customer!
@BobAlabama, If Verizion raises their rates os will all the other wireless services.
Its about time we the people get a break. Everywhere you look one of the major company's is charging a fee for our convenience. Bank of America just changed me a convenience fee of $5 sure it's not a lot of mony for one person but take that number in the same set up by the billions. Big company's are making way too much money off the little guy
That was fast.
They are still thieves
I am glad I cancelled all the services I had with them.
Nice try anyway Verizon.
You can give the 2$ to me now.
Wait...they were going to charge a "convenience" fee for me to PAY them?
Glad they heard me now.
heppy new yaers for yuor!!!
Oh man, now Verizon is not gonna screw up and lose customers to other carriers. They will still bully all for their dominance.
Umm why would it cost Verizon money if the customer only did a single payment online, but not recurring?? So glad I'm not with Verizon anymore anyways.
Good! I was one step away from moving my service to another carrier.
